2009 software update

just an fyi - got a call from the dealer and they notified me that my car was due for a software update. Just gonna post this because it seems the car really drives differently - I had since day one complained that the car hesitated, causing a mild jerking upon acceleration. The dealer told me to just drive around in sport mode to reduce the feeling. Was not acceptable to me, but they had no other fix. Did not seem like a normal feeling to me. Well, after this software update the car drives better and there is no more hesitation upon acceleration. Not sure of all the codes and what they mean or affected, but the car seems to drive differently. Here's what they did:

Campaign 0013890100 Program Control.
Cause : PRGRM Control Units (DDE)
0059521 Programming encoding control units (with programming CAS).
2 WX.
18234 Open campaign per SIB 13 03 10, programed and coded vehicle w/ latest version of ISTA/P software. Raised vehicle integration from E070-09-12-512 to E070-10-03-504. After programming initialized the FZD and TPM.

Campaign 0013900100 Replace Charge-Air
Cause: Repl Charge-Air temp sensor
18234 Open campaign per SIB 13 04 10, R&R charge air temp sensor

Can anyone explain what they above changed and some of the abbreviations? Tks!!

I cant explain it but mine has the acceleration jerking that you described. Been that way since day one, I just lived with it. It is due for an annual service trip next month, I'll see what they say

Kinda of strange I think seeing as I have the diesel and you have the gas engine. Maybe not. Could be the transmission linkage??? Not an engineer. Would like to know what they say/do and if your problem is solved if they do a software update.

Don't have my X5 yet... But I had a similiar issue with my 335. It would, from a stop hesitate slightly when trying to accelerate/pull from a dead stop. Jerkiness... I know their was a SIB for the 335's to fix this. Basically they did a software update and it fixed the issue

Interesting thread. I do have that hesitant acceleration on my 2007 X5. I'm having it serviced next month so I'll ask about that software update.

Hi Mrchnt, I too have the 335D and the dealer just had me bring mine in this week for the update. 0013890100 per SIB 13 03 10. It felt to me like it was a lot smoother afterwards too but truthfully I haven't had a chance to drive it more than about 12 miles since they did the work. Tomorrow will be the real test because I'll be driving about 450 miles in it. I am looking forward to see if the MPG changes too. I did the same drive last week and averaged about 34 MPG cruising between 75 and 80 for a large part of the drive.
