x5 e70 Diesel DEAD!!!!

I have 2011 E70D. The DPF light came on and I kept driving it. Couldn't afford the $5k+ fix. SO I kept driving it. last month the thing died totally. lost power and tried to restart and all power is lost. It has a dead short somewhere. I think it got hot and fried some wiring somewhere. The fuse block next to the DME has 2 fuses that immediately blow. It has dead short. HAs anyone experienced this or know about this problem? My mechanic cant find the problem and is at a loss where the short is. The code readers cant pull any codes.. no power to the DME. wipers come on for some reason. total mystery. PLEASE HELP!!!! car has been off the road for over a month.

You should post this in the E90 M57 section, there is a lot more traffic and wiring should be pretty much the same... also join the North America BMW Diesel owners Facebook group.. you'll have hundreds of people that can give you advise on where to start.

Someone recently had a similar issue. An exhaust pressure sensor hose popped out and hot exhaust gas melted some wiring.
