Help! X6 Rear bumper removal? (hitch)

Hey Gang,

I needed the trailer hitch but was too cheap (or principaled was more like it) to have the dealership put it on (I mean like.. ya I'm 50 now put I can still turn a wrench). They wanted $600 to install it...no way.

OK, on to my dilemma... it's the weekend and no dealer to hassle about getting the manual to remove the bumper (I have instructions for the hitch, but don't relish the idea of hacking up a 2010 car with 1500 miles on it).

Can anyone provide a pic and or verbal instrcutions on removing the bumper? I have removed the screw(s) from the bottom and each one from the inside of the fender will but she ain't budging... (I believe it pulls straight back once everything (screws) are removed)?

Many Thanks- Brazman

The X6 is a very difficult car to work on yourself.
when your done you will say "should have paid the $600".

We had ours installed by the dealer(negotiated a price), due to the electronics, not the mechanical side of things. Reversings sensors & auxilary light plug requires reprograming, alongwith aux brake controller for trailer.

X6 hitch requires iDrive programming. That is of course you have no intention of hooking up trailers that require power for lighting.

Not a bad Price.....

My dealer in NOVA quoted me $1,300.00 (Including the re-flash) to install a hitch. I said Thanks but no thanks, I'll just ride the s1000 and my wife can drive the X when we go on vacation.........
