X5 + wheels + ?s

Just got my 2010 3.0 and really loving it, an absolutely great vehicle. But there is one thing that needs to go, the somewhat bland stock 18" wheels. So I'm looking to upgrade to either 20s or 21s.

-Are X6 wheels compatible with the X5? I've read about some rings needed for the rears and I'm not exactly sure what that means?

-My X5 has a stock suspension. Will there be any issues with mounting 21" wheels, specifically 128 or 239?

Any and all recommendations are welcomed.

I have looked at this issue too and I was told that X6 wheels do not fit in the rear due to different ring-spacer issues; I am going to play it safe and buy X5 wheels only

You are right, the X6 has a smaller hub by aprox 2mm.

Therefor you can't mount X6 specific wheels on a X5, but you can mount X5 specific wheels on a X6 with the use of hubcentric rings.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. In any case, always check with BMW specs before purchasing wheels.

A good shop can back bore the wheels to match your hubs if you already have wheels. Otherwise I would purchase correct hub match wheels.
