Any Advice? New owner of 2011 X5 50i
Hello Everyone,
I just picked up a 2011 X5 xDrive50i 109,000 miles. I have just started reading about how many problems the n63 motor has. Currently the SUV runs and drives great. I was wondering if there's any precautionary maintenance I should do to keep this beast running like a champ. I read somewhere that it's a good idea to remove the engine cover. Is this a good idea? Anything else I should consider? Any insight is appreciated. TIA, Sal Last edited by SalGuod; 12-19-2023 at 08:20 AM.. |

too many to list, timebomb.
i'll bet all your oil seals are caked and loaded up with that many miles. on top of oil lines, coolant lines, all ready to break. Get a CNA warranty if you can, or something that is exclusionary, you're going to see the warranty company spend about 10-20k in repairs over the next 24 months (if you are lucky, less). tHe engine is great, if you fix all the issues that cause it to kill itself, if its gone untouched, then its a matter of time. I have 3 N63 motors, I should know, its not a car to buy used and think its a good investment unlsss you have a warranty and or can do the work yourself. My last N63, I put about 25k into it through my warranty that I paid 6k for, ha. |

This forum does need better sticky threads for each engine model and common problems they have, but I dont know if we actually have any active moderators. Unfortunately "New owner of xyz, what to look out for" threads are a dime a dozen and replying with the same exact thing in every new thread gets old. Chances are there are many threads with all of the information you are looking for, and bumping them with more specific questions is bound to get better answers.
