Need advice for purchasing 2011 x5 50i

two 2011 x5 50i with 35k miles, similar price. Need some advice to pick one.
Both come with premium package, sport package, premium sound package, Tech package etc.

The differences are as following,

A. cold weather package with heated seats and steering wheel, Self leveling suspension, Adaptive drive, factory warranty expired already!

B. BMW certified 6yr/100k, NO heated seats, sport suspension, No adaptive drive, side camera.

Thank you.

You can always add a BMW Gold extended warranty before the warranty expires. So the warranty piece is moot IMO.

You have to decide if the options are worth it to you.

If you're not completely comfortable/sold on either of these vehicles above, you should wait and keep searching. Hopefully you don't need something this week and can be patient until the perfect X5 for you shows up. Many of us here spent many months searching until we finally found the right one.

I'd also recommend you include 2012's in your search - for starters those heated seats that vehicle B. above doesn't have became standard equipment on the 50i (though quite honestly most 2011's should have them - it's hard to find one w/o). You'll get the LED coronas and the vehicle is a year newer with more warranty remaining. Just my .02.

I would not own an X5 out of warranty, especially not after my most recent experience. I'd wait until you find the perfect X5, which has some factory warranty left so you can buy an extended warranty. Or buy a CPO.

Not to change direction of the thread too much, but it is really advisable to not own an X5 out of warranty? Isn't it really a crap shoot? I'd rather take the $2k-$3k for the warranty extension and put it in the bank. Two years (normally) go by so quickly. Besides, my '11 has 47k miles and I only drive @ 5-8k miles/year. I welcome other opinions...

an X5 with adaptive drive is a much better car than one without.

However, for my money, I'd wait and find a 2011 or 2012 with adaptive drive and the M Sport pkg. and a warranty.

I don't see them go for that around here. More like $45k here. But not to say you won't find it!

No prob. BMW N.A. told me today that since dealerships are privately owned, extended warranty costs vary from dealer to dealer.

you are right. Called local dealer and was told that $3200 for 36 months/36000miles. Sounds like there is a little room .

I paid $43,500 for a CPO 2012 50i with:
- M sport
- Tech
- Premium
- 28k miles
- 1 year factory warrenty left, additional 2 years of CPO

The self leveling suspension comes with the M Sport, and I'm glad to have it since I plan on towing with it. Not sure if you'll need it if you don't tow. The tech package includes the top and side view camera which is really useful, but I find the side view cameras to be mostly useless.

Thanks for the great info. We made a decision for the first one with a trade in. The wife love the cold weather package and I will enjoy the Adaptive drive. this car is identical to the 07 4.8i we had.

thank you all. will update later.

Call BMW of Austin. I hear their quotes are quite reasonable...

Thanks. does it mean I could purchase the warranty anywhere in US?

BTW, I picked up the car yesterday. It was faster than our 07 x5 v8.

Thanks for all responses.

Correct. You can call every single dealer in the US, request a quote and buy the cheapest one.
