Angry 2013 X5M Front Splitter

Added the BMW carbon fiber front splitter to my X5M. Real happy until the bottom half separated while driving. The dealer claims they've never seen that happen before. I contend it's lousy workmanship. Anyone out there experience similar problems with BMW add-on carbon fiber parts?

Highly pissed off in Germany

Sorry to hear that.
I just installed mine on last friday night and love how it looks.
I noticed that BMW req. reinforce the bumper (with 2 metal plates) and drill 2 extra self tapping screws. So I was actually wondering how much air resistance the splitter is getting during highway driving.

If you don't mind, can you share the pics and let us know how fast you were driving?

Was it the BMW Performance splitter? Or a different brand, I have been looking at them lately too deciding which to go with.

X5M Splitter

sorry, no pics. Was traveling about 110 mph when it came apart. Didn't hit anything as far as I could tell. No damage to the upper half of the splitter. Luckily, only the bottom half came loose and stayed partially attached to the car until I could stop. BMW replaced the splitter at no charge. Hopefully this was an isolated incident but will keep an eye on it never the less.
