Question DASH CAM rear camera install?

I am going to install a Blackvue dashcam( Blackvue Dr650 2 channel) with a rear facing camera. Has anyone installed a dashcam in your X6, hardwired with a battery back up or/and the Power Magic Pro? What is the best way to install and configure for parking mode feature? Is a back up battery necessary given the BMW low battery issue? (looking at the Cellink or T Power Plus ALPHA battery packs) Did you use the rear fuse box or front fuse box to tap into? Also, where did you mount the rear camera and where do you run and hide the coax from front camera to rear. Any advice and tips please.

THX.

no need for a extra battery
tap the constant 12v power from the rear fuse box by the passenger side taillight, the switched 12v came from the power outlet in the trunk
the front camera is mounted to the left side of the rear view mirror, the rear camera is on the center right underneath the 3rd brake light
the rear wire can be tucked into the trim around the tailgate and there is a rubber cable pass through at corner for the tailgate's wires that leads into the D pillar, you job will be much easier with the D pillar trim removed
I usually don't have the power magic pro on, but I usually leave it to switch off when the battery is below a certain voltage. configure it to whatever you are comfortable with
When you use the power magic pro, the car will give excessive battery drain warning after, but i never had a issue where the car won't start

I've got the Blackvue 650 and I bought the Power Magic Pro because I thought that'd help prevent the battery warnings Nevertheless, I've already got the drivers side kickpanel out since I recently installed remote start and have yet to finish running the antenna for the remote start. Seeing that the camera length might interfere with mirror adjustment, is there any reason why you didn't install it more towards the passenger side so it can be less visible from the drivers seat? Did you run the wires down the drivers side or passenger side of the car and do you have pics of where you connected/tapped the power signal for the Power Magic box?

the PMP certainly doesn't prevent the warnings, our cars gives battery warnings very easily, but the PMP does at least prevent from draining the battery excessively so you won't be in a situation where you can't start the car.
I found that where I put the camera doesn't interfere with the camera adjustment at all, it actually fits there really well, the issue with the passenger side of the mirror is that you need to leave enough space away from the housing to make sure you can still remove the camera when you want, as it slides out towards the left, also the wires won't be tucked away as nicely.
I actually ran the wires to the back fuse box in the trunk and put the PMP there as well. I ran the wire in between the roof liner and the doors

I did my install very similar to theaudir8fan. I used this video as a guide

My front camera is to the right of the rear view mirror, out of my sight, running the wires to the top of the passenger side towards the back, tapped into a fuse in the back, and rear just underneath the 3rd brake light. Like theaudir8fan, I leave my PMP off since BMW likes to leave the battery running for a good 15-20 minutes before turning off so my Blackvue is still recording for that time after I turn off the car. If I will be parked longer, I will turn on the PMP and I have it set to unlimited time, 11.8V.

I'm watching this video at work but can't hear it over the noise of planes being built. I've never looked at the fuse box area in the trunk...am I splicing into the same fuses?

Use a fuse tap into the fuse box. I had the PM got rid of it for a dedicated battery
Cellink. Go to blackboxmycar and watch tons of video installs.

I thought the Power Magic Pro is a dedicated battery?

No. It is basically a "smart switch" that monitors the battery for run down. It shuts off the camera when the car battery is discharged to a certain level. That is why I went with the Cellink. IMO a much better solution for BMW's. Camera runs off the Cellink battery first, then it will switch to car battery when the bat pack is depleted and will also turn itself off if the car battery goes below a certain level. The bat pack recharges while you drive or you can charge at home . About an hour to fully charge and lasts 72 hours in parking mode running in dual setup with the BV 650. If you want more standby you can daisy chain cellinks. I have mine installed in the trunk out of the way.

I have the PMP and replaced it with the Cellink because I was getting the discharge warning all the time. I pull the power cord from the camera housing when I park in my garage. No need to waste battery while in garage.

Same here I had PMP and it always throw a battery drain error after a few hours of parking mode. Even after I upgraded to 105Ah AGM battery.

Got it finished up this morning, along with routing the sensor for my remote start and radar detector...just knocking things off the list before leaving for Bimmerfest All wires tucked neatly behind panels using body panel removal tools I got from Harbor Freight. I played around with different locations, but between the radar detector, sensor for my remote start and not wanting to see the lights flashing (yes, I turned them off in the settings menu later), I chose to mount the camera to the right of the rearview mirror, just low enough that I can't see it while sitting in the drivers seat. I may cover the wires in that plastic normally used for car stereo installs, but I don't see it and I'm not that concerned. You can't see the wire standing in the front of the car, but the chrome ring around the lens stands out, so I'm going to have to take a Sharpie or something to it.

...and routed the wire through the factory grommet. Admittedly it was kind of a bitch, so I folded the wire in half about 2' from the rear camera plug end, taped it to a metal rod and pushed it through. After I'd got it through, I slowly pulled the camera end plug through the grommet, squeezing it at the same time so it wouldn't bind...eventually it came through.

I removed the center and RH side trim panels from the hatch itself and fished the wire up through the same area where the factory harness is. After determining the length needed to run to the camera itself, I tucked the wire slack back into that hole...
