M Sport owners running 298M wheels
Looking for info on using the Fronts only x4 for winter set up. Looks like I would need a 25mm spacer in the rear. Acording to Turner this would be a H&R where it is bolted to the hub, then the wheel bolts to the spacer (DRA) type. Wondering if anyone has experience with this.
Also considering boring out the stock Rear 298M's from 72.6mm to 74.1mm but I have concerns re: wheel strength. Would appreciated any and all comments. TIA

For my 50i Msport i use 15mm hub centric spacers on the rear wheels and no spacers on the front when i run the 298's for winter.

I'm running 15mm H&R adapter/spacers for the winter set. I had no issues for the 2.5 months I had them on (about 3500 miles). Edit: probably the same spacers as @Cattivo on the rear only. Last edited by 135ivert; 05-27-2015 at 10:13 PM.. |

Or did you mean run staggered 298's? I can't because tof the hub size discrepency issue. The 298's were an X5M wheel in which the rears were 72.6mm correct? I need 74.1mm for my X5 msport which are the front sizes of the 298M wheel. I could run 15mm spacers as you both do and not worry about the wheel being inset. That probably makes the most sense.

I assume you are running the Front size 298's all around?

My apologies for causing confusion. To clarify:
If you run a 298 square setup, then you will need spacers in the back for aesthetic reasons only. If you run a 298 staggered setup, then you will either need to run hub adapter spacers in the rear, or have the two rear wheels bored out. Here's what I use in the rear. |

Ok, so using a wheel offset calculator. If I go with the staggered set up, ie the rear wheels off of the 298M, they will retract by 8mm. If I then use these 15mm spacers, they will then extend by an extra 7mm. That would look fine, probably would just contribute more rock chips.

Great find on those adapter spacers though. Thanks. You wouldn't happen to know if they come in a 12mm?

Searched ECS, and looks like they have an ECS branded spacer of 13mm that does the adaptation from 74.1 to 72.6. That gets me 2mm ccloser to stock offset. Pretty small difference, probably not enough to worry about.
