New X5 Revealed
I know it's off topic, but I couldn't resist. It looks pretty good IMO. They didn't really fudge with it too much since the last generation was so good to begin with.

You'd think that, it's actually a few inches longer and wider. Also, there's a link below the picture with more pictures. Take a look at the weird new shift knob.

Starting to look more like the Porsche.

I love how they kept the exterior similar and totally redesigned the interior. My family might have to trade our 04 X5 in couple years...

I think it looks VERY nice, inside and out. The only change I would like to see would be to make the lower body molding body-colored (similar to the treatment on the newer X3).
I'm not an SUV-type, but that would be part of the list of "SUV's I would drive if I had to".

The new X5, to me, represents something so much more than you could imagine.
Starting with the double-wishbone set-up up front (finally!), the jaw-droppingly gorgeous interior that rivals anything Audi can put out, the muscular-but-not-too-muscular sheet metal, the engines, the elimination of the i-drive double-hump, the TRICK-as-fuck shifter, even the chrome trim that isn't broken into a million pieces like on the E90 and actually flows continously around all the windows (door seams are the exception of course) and under the door mirror ('bout time they got that one right). To me it represents a sort of fulfillment of the quality products that we all knew BMW could build if they wanted to. It's a fusion of Audi attention-to-quality-detail and BMW performance-and-style. That's why in my mind, even if the lines are a tad awkward in some places compared to the MK1 X5, this new generation is the most beautiful thing to come out of Munich since, well... the Z8. Or in this case... South Carolina.

Gear selecter looks much better than the spy shots posted elsewhere.
The base is different (not M5) and the whole thing looks better quality. The exterior works for me too. I like it. |
