X6 35D tyre wear

I have an X6 35D on 20 inch rims, which I bought new in November 2009. The rears are fine, but the front Dunlop 275/40/20 have about 2mm left and the car has only done 5800 miles, a combination of motorway and round town driving. This seems alarming wear to me - has anyone else experience this?

Did you get the tire insurance? I got it and it paid for itself within a year. I also got it with my new x6 too . over a period of almost two years I had a flat in all 4 tires and in my luck it was clock wise so when I traded it in I almost had a new set.

If u take turns @ high speed always, front tyres can wear faster.
6000 miles seems excessive.

Andy,
We have 20" option, on Bridgestone Duellers H/P, runflats, 10k travelled, Drive reasonably agressive, 50% open roads & city driving.

However wear on front & back similar.

Hi..I was in the same dilemma! I noticed that my front tyres (20") were wearing a little more than the rear with barely 3k miles. I definately thought something was wrong. Went to the BMW Garage (2 diffrent ones in London!!) & they just said its perfectly normal as the front tyres take a heavier load?? Oh well..if thats what they say..I cant argue. I've now noticed that my neighbour's X6 (with exactly same specs 20'') front tyres are now almost bold with probably less than 10k miles but rear seems fine.

I live in the London, got my x6 Jan 09 and I have tire insurance. They definitely do it here, ask your dealer again. It’s already paid for itself.
