Concerned about somewhat hard shifts in X6

I just started to look at the X6 as my next vehicle. I have seen a few posts here and other forums about the X6 having hard sometimes jerky shifts. Some to a point at they want to get rid of the car. From what it seems it is not a widespread problem but it concerns me to see more of this mentioned.

Anyone have any comments on this. I probably will not have a chance to drive one (V8 or "M" version) before I buy since they don't have any in stock at a nearby dealer.

Thanks,

Dave

Not sure which posts you are referring to (links would be nice) but this is just not true.
The shifts are very smooth ( assuming you are talking about standard mode and not manual, manual mode downshifts can be harsh).

BUYING THIS CAR WITHOUT DRIVING IT FIRST IS HUGE MISTAKE.

You already have some preconceived notions and buying without driving will just have you here complaining about things (like hard to see out rear window) that you would have known if you drove one. Go to another dealer/state if you have to but drive before buying.

Agree definitely drive before buying. X6 is not for everybody. I have driven several with 8 speed box and previous 7 speed box and can report no hard shift problems with either. But drive it yourself and you be the judge!

Thanks for your input. I'll find a dealer that has one. I guess driving the V6 would be good but I better find a V8 if that is the one I'd get.

Agree, shifts are not severe. Definetly drive before you buy. Great car for those of us who enjoy this type of vehicle
