Traded my 08 M3 for an X5M and am really loving it
I do not miss my M3 a bit with the X5M. It makes no sense how well it drives and handles. This is the best DD I have ever owned. Now I can save up for a real weekend car which will be an F360 or F430 Scud.......Steve

Try throw away your X5M stock crappy RFT. Acceleration will improve, cornering ability will also improve.

X6M is a lil bit faster than X5M mainly because of its aerodynamic.

i'm hoping to eventually move up from my estoril 4.6is to an x5 m in a couple years. what you're describing is my dream scenario. x5 m as daily driver and f360 or f430 6 speed as my weekend car.

we've had our x5m for about three months but my wife drives it mostly so I haven't really gotten to play much other than around town. recently though, we took it for a 5 hour road trip and man is it fun to drive. it pulls on the highway like no other. i'd step on the gas and all of a sudden i'm at 120 without realizing it. it is so smooth and quiet i really have no idea how fast i'm going without looking at the speedo. in my m3, i can feel the speed, but the x5m is dangerous because i have no idea how fast i'm going. i know some have complained about the exhaust note not being aggressive enough, but it is perfect for me. when you hit the m button and start shifting at full throttle, the grumbling from the exhaust is just awesome. then when you are cruising on the highway or tooling around at normal speed/acceleration, you would have no idea what's lurking under the hood. additionally, for the weight of this car, i can barely tell when i'm battling the twisties. i know all the criticism bmw gets for making this car and the x6m, but this car is really pretty amazing. i don't know how they manage to hide the weight, but i haven't driven any other suv that handles this well (haven't driven an jeep srt or cayenne turbo). obviously the price point is difficult for most to stomach and the gas mileage is atrocious, but this car does manage to put a smile on your face. i just bought new snow tires and wheels and i can't wait for winter's worst. i'm sure this car will be just as fun in the snow!
