Engine Malfunction
Hey guys, I started another thread about creaking noises coming from the trunk area, but I thought this deserved a new thread.
My 2013 X5 35i has gone into limp mode 3 times now. Brought it to the dealer after the first time, they performed a transmission software update, and was told it would not happen again. That was a few months ago. Well last week it happened again and just got the car back today. I was told a 'glitch' occurred that would not happen again. After I got home I went to run errands and it went into limp mode again. I can't get the car in tomorrow, so it'll probably be Wednesday. I really just needed to vent about this. I love BMW and have had various 3 series and 5 series models since 1998. I love my X5 too, but the annoying creaking issues and these limp mode problems are pushing me away as it seems BMW quality is getting worse lately. |

Document everything, in case you have to lemon it.

I too have had several BMWs over the years. I currently have a 2013 X5 3.5 that is 2 months old and has 1700 miles. During the cold weather at the beginning of January, i returned from a trip, started the X5 at the airport, it ran for 2 seconds and died. Would not crank much less start. But I had full battery power.
Well after 10 days of sitting at the airport and having Roadside Assistance figure out how to get it towed to my dealer, I was told that BMW has authorized a complete replacement of the engine. Crazy stuff for a brand new car. |
