Ipod y-cable

I wonder if anyone can help me. My X6 was built August 10 and I have a 4th generation Ipod nano connected to the aux and usb in the armrest via the BMW y-cable. I have seen on this forum that this increases the functionality of the ipod and also allows artwork to be viewed on iDrive screen in the car. It aint happening for me. I can get access to my playlists but I can't get any artwork to appear on the iDrive (even though it appears on the iPod). Can anybody shed any light on this?

Thanks in advance.

Build dates of post October are apparently able to show the artwork. This is accomplished by not using a Y cable. You only use your basic USB cable. My vehicle apparently is pre Oct , so I have not been able to accomplish this through my IPhone.
