Buying a 2008 x5 help plz

hello, every1 ,

my name is alex from canada , i would like to buy my uncles bmw x5 2008 with 81000 KM not miles.

should i expect any problems as he never had one and always maintained it at the deallers. he drives his company car so i was mostly his wife who drove it ....basically car was not beaten

is this car reliable enough as otherwise i would buy a acura mdx or lexus gx or rx but 2010 and up.

i never owned a bmw or any german car except for a 1986 vw jetta carat when i was young.

i know the drive and veryhting is not the same as the other cars but i want to only know reliablility wise what u guys think.

thanks in advance

Hi Naser,
I have a 4.8i 2008 E70, been driving it now for 6 months, didn't see any problem, these cars are very powerful and the ride is amazing, completely different if your car has the sport package on.
I heard about a problem appearing often on the V8 engines, a coolant pipe running between the 2 cylinder heads is known to fail and cause a leak that is very difficult and costly to repair.

If you want reliable SAV don't even think of buying a German, if you want drivability and performance than buy one. Save some money and be prepare to fix this Ultimate Driving Machine especially it's out of warranty. Search the forum for all the problem with the 4.8i than you can make a decision. I am just like you and never own a German car before, all my my were Japanese. But after owning one than only got it why so many people still stick to BMW even so many problems and glitches with them.

I just own the car for less than a year, already fixed quite a few problems eg.
Tailights, mechatronic sleeve, vacuum pump, radiator temp sensor, suspension airbags, all by DIY so I save tons of $$.

If this is your uncle's X5 I would buy it since he kept all the maintanence records. Remember be prepare to fix it or leave it.
