Hello, David!
I liked your exhaust very much, but I am little bit scared because of RACE status of it.
Could you please make a video of cold start with RPI exhaust on your car?

Sorry about the lack of updates for the scoops. I have the prototype scoops still on my car but I have not been able to dyno it to see the gains. There aren't any reliable 4 wheel dyno's in my area anymore. The place i got some dyno's done at before sold their dyno so I'm out of places to go now. I mean, there should be some gain - definitely no loss - but I just don't have the numbers. If you don't need numbers to convince you to want to get a set, I suggest you give Eloy at RPI a call and see if he would start selling them. Either that or someone help me find a good place with a 4 wheel dyno in the southbay in socal..haha!

Thanks for all your help Dave. Atleast now people might be able to open their eyes to see all the BS marketing people do to sell products. Since all the dyno numbers are different with the scoops, I cannot in good faith, proceed with the project until more testing is done. Atleast the exhaust is keeping you happy no?

Exhaust is definitely keep me happy. Work has been crazy but hopefully i can find sometime to try that one place for the dyno again. They messed up one of my wheels why trying to undo my lugs so I'm kinda mad at them. Too bad there aren't any more 4 wheels dyno's around me.

How is the progress on the scoops for X5M?

Any results for the power addition and any idea about the pricing?

Thanks

Beautiful truck bro! Sooo hows that exhaust sound? How much louder than stock? Deep rumble or higher exotic pitch?

I had the intake scoops for my old 545i and they really made a noticable difference. The process will probably take around a month so I wanted to see if there is anyone with an X6///M that is really interested in these products. I will post pics and dyno charts as soon as everything is completed. I am really excited about the gains that will come from their products. The chip may be upwards of about 90-100 hp gain, 10-20 hp for the intake scoops, and I am not sure about the exhaust. Post replies if you're interested!
from where can i get the air filter for the x5m?

Looking for some updates on this... I doubt that a dyno will actually show any difference with the scoops. I think you would see more results on the street with more air flowing into the scoops. I think I might be able to come up with some rough prototypes, scoops really arent that complex.
Just emailed RPI to see if they have gotten anywhere with theirs.

Making a one off is not THAT complex. Making sure it works and performs is very complex. Our test car was sent to many different awd dyno facilities. None of the facilities were able to give us solid runs. All the runs were different (including the stock runs). Although there were gains shown with our prototypes on the car, it was still inconsistent enough to where we did not want to base our reputation on it. Until we figure out a way to test what the parts are REALLY doing with the car, we have postponed further prototyping.

3yrs later...dead project? Some guy is selling carbon fiber scoops, buttdyno only, yet still selling them for $350-$550. You gonna come through, RPIpower? Even if they don't make great gains, I just think they'd look cool behind the grill of my white X5M. Can either of you at least show pics of them out of the car so someone who's mechanically inclined can try to make our own?

I don't have pictures but I can open that project again. Maybe we can start a group buy or something.

It's either that or mod/delete the factory airbox and create an entire intake system, which is overdue. 1st pic is just an idea, 2nd is the MSR intake ($$$$), 3rd and 4th are pretty obvious then the 5th is something I had sitting around from an 08 Scion Tc which needs to be longer, more radius to clear the inter coolers, ovaled to clear the hood/frame support behind the radiator and 3.5"-4" in diameter, but you get the idea.

I'd buy a set for the X5M when they're ready to go.

I've been watching videos on YouTube about how to make carbon fiber tubes where he'd used cast-type fiberglass to wrap a tube, then from there he'd bought a carbon fiber sock and wrapped the fiberglass...but he started out with metal tubing. I've been trying to think of some way to make and mold the piping using something that would bend and stay in place, kind of like dryer ducting, but then it's getting the shape to stay, somehow wrapping it to make a mold like he'd done in the video and going from there.

MSR makes intakes for the F10 M5 that connects to the stock plastic turbo inlets while Undercover Performance NJ replace the plastic inlet and feed directly into the turbo; both systems put the filter in front of the radiator just behind the kidneys.
