I don't believe so. Most plugs will only cover up to 1/4" holes, not long tears such as that. A patch would cover that, but the plug in conjunction with, wont be able to fill the void and prevent water from getting into the plys.

Looks like you're getting new tires...

Anything more than a nail or screw puncture I would not repair it. If it can't be fixed with a plug and a patch, I would pass. That looks like a 1 inch rip in the tread which will have compromised the radials just due to the cut. Tires and brakes are the things that I don't like to mess around with.

I wouldn't bother. Looks like a good size tear. I just replaced all 4 of my tires on my summer wheels. Got 4 Bridgestones from TireRack. Ordered through Ebates for 3% rebate and Bridgestone has promotional $70 visa prepaid card if you buy 4 new tires before April 30.

I would not risk it. A tear like that, who knows what could happen to it next when you're going fast on the motorway one day with your wife and kids in the car.

Are you changing only that 1 tire? I thought its recommended to change tires on the same axle? I would change both rears, but that's up to you.

My four tires are about 9/32, I will find only one tire with about 9/32.

It's okay or should I change both rear anyway?

I would not be worried about a tire measuring 10/32 vs 8/32. There could be an issue is you bought a 10/32 vs 5/32.

No, you should be fine with just 1. I was just asking. I believe within 4/32 of an inch of each other and you'll be good.

Where are you paying $600 for that tire. I can only assume your talking dealer prices. You can get a new rear for around 350.00 at many places.
