First Time BMW owner! Which floor mats?
Hey everyone, so this is my very first BMW, I have always been a bit of a Mercedes fan, and have owned a Ml350 Bluetec, which I really enjoyed, but just didn't have that sporty feel. I just purchased a 2011 X5d, and can't wait to take delivery of it, I actually haven't sat in it or seen it in person yet, but I had my cousin go out and drive it. I live in Vancouver BC, and have been looking for 3 months all over the US until I found one in Seattle that I thought was a great price.
Just a quick question about floor mats though. It didn't have the all weather ones in it, so I'm wondering if there are any aftermarket ones that you guys would suggest over the OEM ones. I also wanted to know if there are any other accessories you would suggest for the X5. Thanks for your help! |

I'm partial to the weathertech floorliners (front seat, back seat, and cargo area), or the BMW-branded version of the same:

Yep...the floorliners are the way to go. You can throw a rubber mat over top of them if you want. I know it sounds redundant, but that's what I do.

Personally I think it depends on the climate you live in. I'll have nothing but the OEM carpeted mats, but I live in South Florida... So that info does you no good.
Otherwise, the Weathertech mats do look really well constructed. Other accessories... To be honest, I had the OEM "Grocery Gripper" in my 2012 X3 and that thing was awesome. I hated how grocery bags would fly all over on the drive home. Granted, the split hatch on the X5 is nice because the bottom part stays closed, preventing items from falling out, unlike the X3 that is a full hatch swinging upward... Get some good quality tint on the windows to protect your interior from UV rays. You don't have to go dark, just quality tint. Other than that, your choice of accessories should depend on the amount of us, type of driving, etc etc... Good luck and enjoy the new X!
