Wheel Advice

I'm looking to pull the trigger on some new wheels for the white beast (alpine white) and wanted to get some input. I have narrowed it down to three wheels. Let me know your opinions, experiences, colors, etc.

Vossen CV1

Front: 22 x 9
Rear: 22 x 10.5

Vossen VFS1

Front: 22 x 9
Rear: 22 x 12

Vossen VFS2

Front: 22 x 9
Rear: 22 x 12

Opinion = DON'T GO WITH 22"!!!

2. tires are more expensive, limited choices
3. depending on tire type and brand, may have clearance issue with front suspension components but also vent grille in front of tire when you turn wheel completely

1. ride quality is not worst if you compare to OEM run flats
2. a 22 set of scorpion zero costs about the same as a set of OEM run flats
3. many have the 22 inch set without any clearance issues, just need to get the right size and offset
4. i don't think a 20 inch set resale is any better

Now if OP was after 21s, than I would agree with you, those are even more limited in terms of choices

Go for the VFS1, those in 22s with 10.5 front and 12 rear would look great

Couldn't agree more. If I wasn't completely in love with my wheels, I'd get rid of them in a heartbeat. 21" tires are SOOOOO limited, it sucks... Run flats or winter tires... Guess that means Run Flats for me...

As for the OPs wheel choices, I'd say the first ones in the black, possibly silver. Definitely NOT the 3rd set... Good luck, post pics when you decide.

Agreed, I feel that the BBS wheels are much more in line with BMW M vehicles... Vossen wheels are more at home on big body vehicles such as the 5 and 7 series...

you have no clue what your talking about, lol, 22 are fine, its what the x5m should have come with from factory, 21 suk no tire choices, and 20 look horrible, have 22 wheels and could not be happier,

You're talking aesthetics only. Given the parameters of tire choices, comfort and cost of tires, 22 is probably not a great thing, other than looks. At least with 18-20" wheels you can have some meat on the tires for increased rim protection, and greater tire choices

I would ask Gerryballz where he got his set. I think there are vendors on here that sell BBS wheels, but you could even go to Tire Rack and get them there.

If you are going to look at 3600 for heavier than stock set of wheels, plus another 1700 for tires, you should really consider some of the great gently used forged sets available here. You can save yourself some money AND shed over 30 lbs of unsprung weight PER CORNER!

The funny thing is that brembo's are actually pretty inexpensive, almost cheap.

For the CTS-V they are under $300 a caliper. For the Camaro, I think they are under $400 each. About $600 each on a Subaru. This direct from a dealer.

Why Brembo sells kits that are $2k-4k is baffling.

I bet someone could make a great Wilwood kit for half that of what Brembo charges.
