Picked up my car yesterday!

Well, I finally picked up my x6 50i yesterday. Rainy day here in NYC, and not really picture weather. Going to get her all cleaned up this weekend and take some shots.

Some first impressions:

This car is an animal. I wish I had driven the 50i without a performance upgrade a little bit more so i could have gauged the difference with it. But, I am definitely not complaining. This thing just eats up road. With such a high seating position there is no way of telling how fast you are going without looking at the speedometer.

The combination of 8-16 MPG and that exhaust note must make Saudis and Texans grin ear to ear. I know I am smiling, but I just can't help myself from muting the radio and listening. It is nothing short of intoxicating. However, half a tank of gas after 110 miles is a bit shocking. Not that I am too worried about gas money, or even the emissions, it is just scary to think this car's maximum range would be around 250 miles. Coming from a 335 that used to get almost 350 on long trips. Definitely not a touring car.

One little problem I am having at the moment. My phone is connected to the bluetooth in the car, but when I check the phone book it always says transferring... 2 days now and it still hasn't transferred everything? My guess it something is afoot and I will have to see whether there is something with my phone or the i-drive in the car.

Otherwise, I am really excited and absolutely love the car.

Thanks for sharing. I can tell you drive agressively with the mileage you are reporting with the X6 and 335i.
I think it will certainly improve once you get pass the 1500 miles mark.
I get about 300 miles in city and 460-520 miles on the HWY with mine.

I wish I can get the performance upgrade on mine from the dealership.

Congrats mate...enjoy it. As you said, I wish you had driven the standard 50i more so that you can give an impression of the power difference. I've already driven the 50i and was really impressed by the performance. That's why I'm curious to how much of a difference the 40 HP make. Maybe you can ask your dealer for a test drive for the standard 50i and make a quick comparison . Don't forget the pics...cheers

Car is still being broken in, after a 1500-2000 miles I am gonna let her loose and see how it feels. Then I will, most likely, do as you said and test drive one of the ones at the dealership and see what the difference is. Unless, someone in the Tri-State area wants to meet up and do a side by side and we can see if there really is a difference, or they just slapped a 1500 charge on the car and said enjoy!

Pics to come when it isn't so miserable outside... Tints and hardwired v1 being done this weekend!!

I can't wait to see the pics. I have essentially the same vehicle on order without the performance upgrade. Hope you don't get flooded away with all the rain.

Your mileage will improve after break-in. you might try deleting your phone and re-adding it.

Congrats, man! I am sure the performance upgrade turned the car into even more of a beast.

Did you order the premium sound package? If not, can you please comment on the quality of the "standard" sound system?

I wish I would see 300 miles in city. Best I ever get is 270-290ish if I try and drive a little more conservatively (not usually in my nature). I have never seen anywhere close to 450 on mine.

22.5 gallon tank.. City driving would = 13 x 22.5 = 292.5 miles Hwy driving would = 18 x 22.5 = 405 miles .... 520 miles would be about...23.1 miles per gallon. I don't think this V8 is capable of that. If so I would be incredibly impressed. You would have to be truly frugal with your gas pedal to produce those numbers. Majority of my driving is done in traffic. This thing gets pretty terrible gas mileage.. Not that I am too worried about it. It is just odd for me to need to gas up as often as I have had to.

Washed the car in the drizzle on Saturday. Damn Nor'easter made it tough to do anything outside all weekend. I haven't gotten to drive the car in dry weather yet. I have to go to court today to fight a ticket I got 2 months ago. So won't have pics up until tomorrow. Sorry for the wait.. Congrats to all those who also had their cars delivered!
