That's because the Canadian Website SUCKS!

Other than the color, they do NOT show most of the options you select in the picture. It's basically useless!

I think the picture shows the style 257 19" wheels by default when you select the 50i.

Deda, I agree with you 100%!

But you misunderstood what dirtyk was talking about. The Canadian BMW website car configurator for the X6 does NOT change the rim style when you go from the standard 19" wheels (style 257) to the 20" sport wheels (style 259)!

They just use one image as reference. You only see the external color changes on that image, but none of the other options change the image like they do on pretty much any other BMW website!

I got this suspicion that the lease rates are going to be REALLY high to entice people to buy the car instead (so that BMW doesn't get stuck with lease-returns that they have to resale for a loss).

The last time I was at my dealer, she had looked at her list of finance and lease rates and told me that BMW Canada financial services has not released any rates for the 50i but she expects them to be the same as the 35i.

I don't really care since I am paying off the car when I take delivery of it

Just priced out a 35i with the price cranked up to $80,000; not sure if the lease rates will be the same as a base 50i...

I swear the interest rates were lower than 8% the last time I was playing around with the configurator. That's insane on an 80K car!

Wow, 7.9% on 3-year and 9.15% on a 4-year "low-mileage" lease.

Looks like I'm going to be bending over the barrel for this one.

Haha, yes, it looks like I just got lucky... and you're most welcome!

It took them long enough!

Wow, I didn't really check. I just noticed they finally plugged those numbers in.

I've never leased a car. I always buy them. I do remember that my dealer offered me a .5% lower rate for financing than the posted rate if I was interested in this option as a token of appreciation for being a loyal BMW customer (repeat customer). I basically told them that I don't like to finance or lease cars or anything else for that matter and that I would be paying the balance when I pick up the car.

If you previously purchased a BMW, you should ask them about their customer loyalty program!

Not only are the lease rates high, the residuals have been dropped too. BMW really, really doesn't want to lease you a car -- they took an absolute pasting in the past few months on end-of-lease vehicles worth way less than the guaranteed residual. Like, hundreds of millions of dollars of pasting. And in today's climate, nobody has any idea what three-year-old specialty gas guzzlers like the X6 will be worth in 2012.

I'm with xDrive50i: pay cash, and if you can't afford to do so keep your current car for three more years and put $2,000 a month in the bank until you can afford it! I think the only times worth financing are (a) if a lease guarantees you a residual higher than you really expect the vehicle to be worth; or (b) if the finance rate is so low that you can invest the purchase price, earn more interest than the monthly payments, and pocket the difference each month. Rare, but it has happened.

Different countries have different write-off rules, so these comments may only apply in the Northern Nanny Nation of Canuckistan.

+1!

But in today's (or should I say the last few weeks) marketplace, you are probably out of luck finding anything worthwhile investing into that will give you a higher return on your investment compared to the leasing or financing rates!
