X5 sold...

Hey guys, I just want you all to know that we sold the X5 50i M Sport and got my wife a well optioned 2018 GMC Acadia Denali AWD. She loves the new Acadia Denali but she does miss the driving experience of the X5 50i M Sport. She said she will drive the GMC for a few years and maybe go back to BMW if she likes the X7 that's coming soon.

Interesting transition.

Mind posting a comparo, X5 xDrive50i vs. the GMC Acadia?

jiggz, the 2011 X5 definitely had more power and better handling but the 2018 Acadia is way more comfortable and has way more tech than the 2011 X5. I know that a 2018 X5 would have better tech but we didn't want to spend that amount of money knowing that the X7 will be coming soon. The Acadia does have a 3.6L V6 with 310hp so it's actually not bad. The suspension on the Acadia is what really surprised me though. This thing has a very smooth ride due to the "chassis continuously variable real time damping". It almost feels as good as my 2011 Range Rover with full air suspension. With all that being said, the deal on the new Acadia was too good to pass up. It's not a BMW, Land Rover or Mercedes but it does have a luxury feel to it and you get a lot for your money. The Acadia is equipped really well for the amount of money it cost...sticker price was $55,570...a well equipped X5 would have cost over $70k

Nice vehicle! I just did a read-up a few minutes ago on the new Chevy Traverse,....and see that the thing is loaded with technology! I don't plan on making a move away from X5M anytime soon,...but it's nice to see that the competition,...or at least those in the SUV market is stepping up their game!

However, to me, the game changer would be an X5 or similar size vehicle that has the power at least of a 35i,....and yields some 30+ mpgs,...is comfy,..and sporty to boot!

JMD, I agree with you, GM has really stepped their game up on the new Traverse and the Acadia. I'm actually thinking about selling my 2011 Range Rover and purchasing the all new 2019 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss or GMC Sierra Denali.

I forgot to mention that the cabin of the Acadia is surprisingly quiet with very little road noise!

Thanks for the reply, and I understand not wanting to drop $80K+ on a new F15 X5, which is likely what it would take to replace your 2011 50i. Hope you enjoy the new Acadia, sounds like a smooth ride!

back to reality!

Hey guys, I just wanted to share that we traded the GMC and returned to BMW...only this time we didn't get an X5. My wife fell in love with the 6 series Gran Coupe so we picked up a 2015 CPO 640i Gran Coupe. We wanted to get the 650i GC but we just couldn't find a CPO with the right colors and options that she wanted. Anyway, it's good to be back! I'll try to get a few pics up soon.

The GMC Acadia Denali is a very nice vehicle and had a very comfortable ride but my wife said she just didn't get that same driving feel that she had with the X5. I guess the GMC was just a little too comfortable to the point that it was a little boring to drive.

That's exactly what I would have guessed. Glad you're back!

640i GC traded...

Well guys, as much as we loved the 640i GC, my wife said that she really missed the SUV ride height so we ended up trading the 640i GC for a Range Rover. We now have his and hers...

Actaully she's loving the Range Rover even more than she loved the X5. No, it doesn't handle as well as the X5 but I think the interior design and quality is what won her over with the Range Rover.

Once a BEEMER driver always a Beemer driver

GMC Acadia is like a glorified land yacht compared to the Speed boat like Beemer.

The Range Rovers have the Adaptive Dynamic Stability Control so the handling is not bad at all.
