35i engine problems

I have 10k miles on my 35i Msport and over the past couple months I've notice a substantial decrease in performance and lag while driving. Took into BMW and they said they had to upgrade the software for shifting issues. (If your having shifting lag there's an update for that) so while mine was in the shop they loaned me a 2012 X5 35i. This one was night and day different in power and performance compared to mine. I could hear the turbos spooling on the loaner, where I couldn't on mine. I also have a lot of black soot on my tailpipes that has blackened my tips so bad, nothing will get it off. Also starting it cold in the morning (its garage kept) I hear a metallic noise just as the motor starts. It almost sounds like the starter is not releasing from the flywheel fast enough. It's not every morning though that it does it. On top of all this I've been getting worse gas mileage now than I did when I first got it. About a 2-3 mpg difference. The dealership said nothing is wrong and no check engine lights on. Are they FOS? Or has anyone else had any similar problems like this or know what might be going on? Thanks in advance for your help.

No one has had any N55 problems in there X5? Failed fuel pump? Noisy turbos? Leaky injectors? If so what were the symptoms?

Check other forums like bimmerfest http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=159 which has a dedicated X5 forum and Xoutpost http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/x5-e70-forum/

I've had fuel pump issues with my 2010 5351 (essentially the same engine ) but I have not experienced any problems on my 2013 X5 35i
Good luck.
