Megan Muffler Pics

Had it done today. It went fast.

The unit is nice considering it cost a fraction of what the other mufflers cost. The old muffler gets cut off. The new muffler slips right over pipes. BUT, the shitty band clamps are not strong enough to hold it. So we welded it. another note was the two hangers had to be bent outwards slightly to get the perfect fit. No big deal. and it is alot easier to slip the hangers into the grommets if you unbolt the hangers, slip them on and bolt them back up.
and there is a ground strap on the drivers side of the factory muffler and there is no provision for it.
regular driving it is the same. It sounds good when you hammer it. It feels faster but any louder exhaust makes it feel faster. I really am not concerned with HP increase. I just wanted the better looking tips and louder sound and for the money, you cant beat it.

There is another post where he has a gopro on his bumper while he drives.

It sounds slightly louder then M-Mode.
It saves weight, it looks better.

I think it sounds fine. No drone. Interior sounds the same as before.
and startup is similar to before. For the cost, you cant beat it. Considering the HP increase is barely anything even with a 6k muffler, I am not expecting this one to make any real gains. But it sounds better and looks better. and it cost about 400 bucks shipped. The shop did the install in a short time for 40 bucks and I gave 20 tip to actual installer. It was a great deal

The plain tip one is only 315!

I think shipping was 30-50 bucks, run it through the shopping cart

I mentioned it in another post, but make sure you them a number they can call you at. They need to veruft CCV code on your CC. I think that is their policy. Mine was delayed because they called my land line and I never answer 800 or 888 numbers on that line.

For that price, all those 3-7k muffler systems could go F themselves.LOL

I bet if you just listened to a comparasion or sound, you would have no idea which system was which. and I would be willing to bet that on a chassis dyno, the gains on any muffler combo will be so similar it would be negligible

White X5m has the Eisenmann...Black X5m will have Dinan soon...can wait to see Donho....when i get my X5m...definitely going to try Megan 1st




btw...has anybody seen this?......X5M driver is crazy but the truck is beastly!....the way it make those turns and weave is insane!...X5m makes holes like no other...lol

spending $600 including labor is not bad ....lol.............either or...its person's preference on exhaust...to me ...like one person says here...the louder it goes the faster i feel im going.......lol

Its a no brainer, for that amount and YOU are 100% right, the louder it is the faster it feels.

None of these mufflers really make alot of power. So why spend 7k on one???

with all these sound....if Im going 60mph...i feel already faster than everybody....trully depends on everyones budget....rust no rust..you spend less than many people would pay...........to me,i rather spend the 700 for Megan...and use the other 6k for tune upgrades......

I rember when I had an E46 M3. Everyone on the M3 board was buying titanium and other crazy exhaust. I noticed that all these mufflers released about 5 HP. Obviously the factory system was pretty optimized sound control/performance. All these available systems were 3-5k.
Then out of now where Borla came out with a system
It was under 1000 and it released the same amount of HP as any of the other systems.
I ordered it. everyone on that M3 board was talking shit. About who ever heard of Borla. and for that price it probably hurts HP. and it is probably junk. and so on.
I knew better. I knew Borla from actual racecars. Some of the fastest drag cars in the world used Borla Xr1 mufflers. They were all made of quality s/s. and it they could handle 2000 HP NOS engines, I am sure it could deal with my little 333 HP straight six!
It arrived, fit like a glove. i insstalled in on my buddy;s lift in less then an hour.(another thing those guys said, it probabaly fit badly)
maybe these guys feel that the more the spend on an exhaust the more power it will unleash? or maybe its fear of the unknown. But I do know that when I picked up this suv. and saw the exhaust choices and the cost/HP, i decided I was NEVER changing the system. Until this cheapie megan system.
Its simple, pick one up, save your original muffler and if you hate it, reweld on the original. You can throw the megan away for the cost.

and as far as the blue tips?? I was debating on them since it looked a little honda fartcan. but screw it, there are four of them and I think it looks pretty good. I bet it would look really good on that mathcing BMW blue color

" Honda Fartcan"......Mr Donho...we are talking in the X5m board.....lol.hahahah..at nowhere near a honda fartcan.the cost of your Megan is equal to their Catback exhuast..lol..haha...lol......only thing maybe IMO...i wonder if you can paint it and leave the blue tips blue and rest is black?>.....either way..this is an X5M..i dont think no honda would even dare...lol..

I dont know about you, but it seems like only the fartcan crowds even know what this suv is. Most just assume it is a soccer mom suv. I was even going to stick one of those soccer balls on the back as a joke.

When i pull up next to a sportscars, they dont even bother going at it. Only cars that do try are the fartcan crowd and they are no fun

I love the sleeper factor, but it is maybe too stealthy??

I never had an issue with my E63, I tested my x5 and my E63 back to back on the the highway. stock for stock and the E63 made much more MPH. But less ET, due to excessive tire spin.

But on the street all the imports would try me. and I would spin, peddle it and run him down. I love AMGs. Much more then most Ms
