Unhappy Rear right arch gap less than rear left?

Hi guys,

I've recently noticed that my car is lower on the drivers side rear than the left. Has anyone seen this before and know what is causing it? All I can think of is my exhaust isn't stock and looks lighter than the stock one, would this cause the left to sit higher?

Cheers, Cal

This pops up quite often. I think it's something to do with the way the car is balanced for where the driver is sat. Don't quote me on that, a quick search should find one of the old threads about it

I thought about that too but surely it would be higher on the drivers side to accommodate the weight of the driver? I tried doing a search but its hard to find what you're looking for on the search tool on this forum! Thanks

Common as I'm afraid the tolerance is between 6mm and 13mm from memory

Calum - the consensus of opinion on this forum is that the cars are built with a bias assuming a German businessman is driving Left Hand Drive. And also with this in mind, BMW have put several of the more weighty bits (incl. the battery) on the right.
That bias (and the heavy kit on the right) is not "dialled out" on cars for the Right Hand Drive markets and thus our cars sit right hand side low. Several members on here have levelled their cars using adjustable suspensions etc.
Hope that helps ...
