Continental DWS 06's or Nitto Motivo's
In the Market for some new tires got my X6. Anyone have an opinion about either of these tires? Thanks

Neither is quite like the Pirelli high end, but good enough and priced right. Good luck. 2010 X6M with 164,000 miles. |

Expect 15,000 miles out of them and more than double that from the DWS at nearly half the price. Jim |

I just got my x6 less than a month ago. I've been driving a Dodge Truck for the past 12 years. Thanks for the tire advise as this has been a great but huge change.😊

I love the DWS's, I have the prior model (not DWS 06) but have also heard awesome things about the DWS 06s...decent price, works really well in the winter. Good stuff! Ride quality improved tremendously compared to run flats too. Carry a air compressor or buy a spare if you are worried about a flat.

Thanks for your input Chris. I have been doing my research and getting a lot of opinions from X6 owners like yourself on the best tires for me. I have the Continental DWS 06's and the Cross Contact UHP on the top of my list. I liked the DW's but, it wasn't very practical tire for me with a Staggered wheel set up and a 340 UTQG>great tire but, most likey a less than favorable tread life. I do plan on getting a winter wheel set up using a set of 19s.

I would highly recommend a winter tire set, particularly if you have an //M. It is pretty scary to have those super wide tires on snow, regardless of brand. Yes, the DWS and Nitto are year around tires, but they are like skis. Scary.
The performance of winter tires blows, regardless of rating. |

I've run the Conti DWS on both the X5M and X6M as well as the rear of my M6 (had to use DW on the front due to size). Ride is great in rain and light (<4") snow. Little softer in the corners than the OEM run flats, but worth it. Treadwear guarantee of 40k miles, halved for a staggered setup.
I probably got about 17.5k miles out of them when I didn't have to replace all 4 early due to a non-reparable puncture. If I was still up north dealing with regular snow, I'd go with dedicated snows, but the DWS is a great compromise if you don't need dedicated summer performance or snows. |

Thanks for the Heads-Up on the handling performance of the snow tires. I am in Virginia. Sometimes it can get really cold here, especially in January and February. It's the evening of December 22 and its 60+ degrees. With the lack of weather predictability, it does seem like the DWS 06's will be a great compromise. 😎🤓😎

Recently put dws06 on our X5 and I was a bit disappointed. Ride is softer but installer measured the tires slightly out of round. This leads to some pulsating sometimes on the highway, and all together result in a ride that is not as stable and confident as with the stock summer tires.
If I had to do it again I'd consider winter tires on a separate set of wheels, and keep the summer tires for the rest of the year. |

I am sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with the DSW 06's. I on the other hand, just got a set of DSW 06's mounted on my X6 and so far my experience has been "excellent". The weather has been extremely cold the past few days in Virginia and even thought I haven't pushed them, I can honestly say they have hung in well thru the "S" turns to my home without any sliding or screetching. When it warms up a bit, I will push them harder.

Currently have Nitto Motivo's and I don't have any traction issues so far. I just did road force balancing because there's a slight vibration. No experience with dws06 but I had the dws. Have no major complaints regarding the dws though cornering and sidewall flex are not the best.

I guess if you have to have just a single set of wheels and tires the DWS are a very good compromise but when I had them I couldn't get over the fact that my summer tires were always so much better in performance and looks and a dedicated winter set will always be better than an all weather tire.

I posted earlier that I was not happy with my DWS purchase for our X5, and after a few more months and one more rebalancing I couldn't take it anymore and went back to a new set of OEM Duelers, even though I had a lot of rubber left on the DWS.
Both my wife and I so much happier, the X5 is much more stable at highway speeds and cornering, and the rubbery feeling is gone. The tires are also wider even at the same rated size, and much better looking to boot. So this is my second bad experience with DWS, my first one was a set on my old 335i, and now the X5. Enough money wasted on these things for me! |

I see several postings about the Conti DWS, but none about the DW. They are a summer, wet/dry tire, not runflat, with similar stats to the OEM tires. I am almost convinced in buying them. It seems that performance and gas mileage will improve since they are at least 10lbs lighter. But I am still concerned about overall handling and traction.
Anyone have experience with the Conti DW? |
