JBD seems like the best choice for the $$$. Just install it and it does it's thing. I like it on my wife's X5D. I would just move it over but I drive her car sometimes so I might as well enjoy it too Other than that flash tune is the way to go. I think I have to remove my DME and mail it to them. Some may have a handheld now...That is what I would have to do with BPC for instance. I can get another 10-15 whp/tq peak with a flash vs. piggyback but it's $800 vs $280 and down time. I'll only change to a 'real flash tune' If I start deleting all the emission components(assuming I can still pass inspection and get a sticker in MA). I would only start deleting the emission stuff if it gets clogged, fails, etc. All the deletes will add power and warrant the tune, also I believe I have to have the tune to get rid of the CELs. The Diesel's don't get too much love but there are hybrid turbos available but I can't image I'll ever go down that route. Maybe if the turbos go... - 45HP 40 LBFT: Stage 1 Tune, all stock components - 70HP 60 LBFT: Stage 2 Tune, all stock components - 73HP 117 LBFT: Stage 2 Tune, DPF, SCR, EGR delete (competition racing use only) - 85HP 135 LBFT: Stage 2.5 Tune, DPF, SCR, EGR delete (competition racing use only) - 130HP 204 LBFT: Stage 3 Tune, Hybrid Turbos, DPF, SCR, EGR delete (competition racing use only) <-- This dynos at 390 HP and 612 FT LB of TQ more if you add meth injection. That is over 700 ft lbs at the crank which is pretty damn good for a 3 liter. But will the tranny hold it and for how long? At the end of my day my goal is to not make my BMW sound like a truck and have a loud whistle whenever I step on the gas. If I wanted that I would buy a diesel truck. I also take customers and coworkers in it occasionally so it needs to remain a bit professional.

So in the E70 model, can somebody break down the shifters that was available for all the 35i, 35d, 50i, and X5M models. I see they had the 6-speed for a while but what year did they introduce the 8-speed? Did the X70 35d ever change over to 8-speed?

2010/2011 X5 "Life Cycle Impulse" (LCI) Changes[edit] BMW X5 (LCI) In 2010 the X5 underwent a "Life Cycle Impulse" (LCI) update, debuted at the New York Auto show in April 2010 and introduced as 2011 models in BMW North America markets. The changes included revised styling, primarily of the front and rear bumpers, air intakes, headlights and taillights as well as new exterior and interior colors and new options combination. It also included BMW Group's latest infotainment system. More significantly, a new range of engines, all turbocharged and with direct injection was introduced. In the North American market, available gasoline power trains are the xDrive 35i twin-scroll turbo six-cylinder and the xDrive50i twin turbo V8, both coupled to an eight-speed automatic Steptronic transmission. These petrol engines are more powerful and lighter than their predecessors, with the 35i also providing improved fuel mileage and reduced emissions. The xDrive 35d turbo diesel carries over in the NA market with the six-speed transmission unchanged from the previous model year. The xDrive40d was also introduced along with a revised xDrive30d, but neither are currently available in the North American market.[17] The X5M engine and transmission remains the same. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_X5...#Transmissions Transmissions[edit] All models include an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. So the 8 speed is in everything F15. The Diesel in the E70 got stuck with the 6 speed while everything else got the 8 speed. Shame, I bet the extra two gears are nice depending...
