Working from the back side of the light assembly (cargo area side) insert your trim removal tool in the center. Kind of the opposite of how you would expect to hold it. Then pressing forward you compress the clip and it just drops down. A pic would probably be much more helpful than this but it'll have to wait until I get my car back, which I hope is soon because the X1 loan I have sucks.
I agree that it was easy to remove. Took me a few seconds to pop out for each side. Not sure why it's so hard for others.

On another note, does anyone have a spare OEM LED for the front map light to sell? PM me and I will buy it from you!

I've got 3 kits on the way to me, so I should have a handful of extra map light bulbs available in the next week or so.

I see several Kolite options. Could someone post a link to the Amazon Kolite for the E70?

These are the ones I bought. In my opinion, these are the best interior LEDs you can get. Yes, better than OEM. They're brighter and more pure white (Kolite 5000K vs. OEM 5700K). Unfortunately, they do flicker at start up when used in the dome light locations. It's extremely annoying. So much so that I paid the extra for OEM LEDs even though I don't like the slight blue hue they have. I do have Kolites for my puddle lights and glove box.

Awesome! As of right now, I just need one or maybe two (if you can spare another one). I will definitely buy from you. Let me know when they're available.

AGT makes a quality set of after mkt led lights. I have them in my e90. No issues for the last 2 years. 22 light set for $41.50 on eBay.

Just got my OEM bulbs in, and they look amazing! It was my second time installing LEDs, so of course I thought I could install the glove box bulb without pulling the fuse (bad idea). At least I didn't spend 30 min searching for the fuse box this time.

Since I bought 3 kits, I ended up having over a full kit of extras. I put up a FS thread for anyone who is interested.

Only the round ones will fit in the overhead/map lights. The flat "chip" style lights are for the puddle lights, foot wells and trunk.

I'd like to add to this thread a little as I have some interesting news. I noticed when we bought our X that some of the lights were LED, some were not. Well, today the lense over the rear passenger footwell light actually fell off/broke, so I wanted to look into getting it replaced. What I found out was interesting.

The LEDs in my car are not OEM. They appear to be some sort of pretty cheap eBay option. But, I haven't noticed any flickering or issues until today. Also, upon looking tonight, I noticed that my glovebox is in fact one of these lights as well. And it seems to work just fine, nice and bright. So it might be an option for some of you.

The weird part is that the lights I have are complete replacement units, not just drop in bulbs. (I learned this tonight).

Anyway, the bulbs are made by Racing Dash Enterprise (?!), according to the markings on the lens cover. Some searching turned up the following site, but I didn't see where to order them.

http://www.rdash.com.tw/en/product_d...ber=WI5603728W

And doing some more searching, I found a few threads detailing the Racing Dash products...

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=392044

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=464110

Anyway, long story short, these lights do for sure work in the glove box if anyone is looking for an option. But, I think I'm going to swap all over the OEM so that I can add LED bulbs to the dome/map lights and make sure everything matches.

For what its worth, my LEDs are pretty bright and the color is nice and white, just a touch of blue. A couple pics below.

The first pic shows the comparison of OEM standard bulbs to my LED footwell lights. The second pic shows the glovebox light as well.

I hope all of this information is of some use to some of you!

RD has been around for a while, I used their LED license plate lights on my E90. They're not exactly cheap, in fact the full replacement units definitely cost more than just OEM LED bulbs, but the quality isn't great.

An LED bulb does work in the glove box with no issues, you just have to pull the fuse in the passenger side dash before removing the OEM halogen and installing the LED. Then put the fuse back in and you're good.

Ahhh ok, thanks for clarifying. Yes, I am definitely not impressed with the quality, but the lights are bright and no flickers. The pricing I have seen seems to be about $30 for each of these replacement units. Of course, I'm purchasing a bunch of OEM units, and then I'll buy the OEM LED kits at some point. I prefer the OEM quality.

I just recently installed these. Found on E-bay. They work great. Granted they do flicker upon starting the car but much cheaper than shelling out $200.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-x-Premium...f38e93&vxp=mtr

I love the color. Easy to install other than the rear dome lights.

Will this apply to a '13 as well ? I tried as much as I can to get this removed and I think I eneded up pulling the whole head liner Still wouldn't budge.
