What oil brand do you use for your N55

Greetings,

I have a 2013 n55 E70 (160k miles) . I do my oil change intervals every 5k miles. I have been using Liquid Moly Molygen 5w40 (the green one) since its available on fcp euro and seems to work just fine. I put AMS OIL in my 6.4L mopar and was considering putting AMS OIL in my E70, but before I change what oil I use, I wanted to know what oil everyone else is using.

I've used Liquid Moly for the last 80k miles and I drive 6-8kmiles a month and change my oil literally every month. Been very pleased with both it, and the FCP oil change program...lol

Why are you guys using a 30 wieght oil on an N55 engine... It burns and runs way hotter than most engines and really needs the extra coverage once it reaches operating temp that a 40 weight oil gives...

With how destructible the rod bearing are in these engines I refuse to run less than a 40.... And to add to that coverage I run a 5w40 in summer months and a lighter and thus easier circulated in cold weather, at first start up... 0w40 in the winter months...

Both with a mann filter period.

I have no clue, I follow the BMW instructions.

In two days I go to the tuner (Mosselman) , I will ask about the oil grade,
I know the have an upgrade oilcooler with thermostat

I will report back.

But thanks for the Remark about the oil grade.

Today to the tuner ( Mosselman turbo) with the X5, and asked what kind of oil would be the best.

They also sad that 5W-40 is the beter choice for the N55, so the next Change I will buy this.

Thanks for the notice !
