Trans failsafe prog

So i'm driving in the snow, the rear kinda goes out cuz i need new tires, and for some reason a message pops up saying trans failsafe prog. It reduced my ability to accelerate. I luckly was near a friends house so i did some forum work and people were saying it could be caused by a fuse issue, or you need a new transmission, but my car only has 115,000 on it (yeah thats more than it should be) but bmws transmissions shouldn't be going to until at least like 170+. So i get in my car to drive home and everything is back to normal. I drive home, no issues. I'm leaving school today and the car starts jurking while going really slow, and the same message popped up with a service engine soon light. HELP?
