More proof to always get a second opinion !

So I've been told now a couple times that I needed a new transfer case because of shuddering when I took sharp turns and that my transmission was showing signs of failure as it would cause rpm dips when slowing down causing a surge to keep the engine from stalling and that it was probably smart to change the transfer case and trans before I am left stranded costing well over 10g's

They said the car was around the end of life for those parts and when I asked about why not change the fluids they said their lifetime fluids and does not need to be changed for the life of the part. And they also advised against the change as they said it will cause more issues.

Well after reading lots of forums and taking a stab at it I changed the trans fluid, both diff's and transfer case and the X feels like a new machine ! It's smooth and the rpm's are like butter smooth when shifting and literally feels like a new car.

Whatever the case, costed about 500 in fluids and such but well worth it !!!!

Change that fluid if your high mileage makes a world of difference!

The front diff fluid smelled a tad burnt but the others where normal for 100k miles, looked like cola, black as night!

Well another reason to always go the cheap route first rather than just replace parts. Man it just angers me they didn't want to help and just wanted to swap parts and not say let's try a fluid swap to see if that helps. And standing by that whole lifetime fluid bull crap is beyond me.

Anyway just thought I'd share.
The fluid change was worth the PITA, and it literally changed the way this car drove. Highly recommend keeping the service intervals on the
Drive train fluids in check to keep things right.
