Interesting. At 60 I'm about 4-5 mph higher. Have you topped yours out? What does speedo say then (you know it's 155mph regardless of what speedo says)

I completely agree with you. Sorry I posted that on the X6 forum. FWIW the order sheet on my Wife's '14 X5 50i shows (under the M Sport Package) and item numbered 840 "Increased top speed limiter" what ever that means. You are very correct about the speedo's in these cars they are very optimistic! That said there is no way in He11 I'd want to go even 150 in and X5 even though I'm sure it would do it. At the end of the day there a stop light racer at best. I don't even know if they come with Launch Control; however I'd doubt it. They were not designed to be an M5. Great car for the Wife. Safe, room for the Grandchildren, well some of them, we have 21! Also great care for a guy with a Family who wants very more than reasonable performance and handling. I spent many years in suburban's

The X5M and X6M have Launch Control (the subject of this thread). The non M versions do not.
If you're ever in Florida, I can prove you wrong about our X ///M's at top speed. They are very stable, very planted, and very solid. Not a stop light racer at all. I took my X6M through Tail of the Dragon after PCD delivery in South Carolina and did my 1200 miles break in the way the car was meant to be driven! The M5 is a beast of course and I had the pleasure of being a passenger in one while the BMW Performance Center instructor, a current race car driver, was driving on the hot lap, most of which we were drifting sideways. Believe it or not, even with xDrive, the X6M is capable of doing a controlled 4 wheel drift when driven correctly. This car is tons of fun. If I had to guess, the increased top speed limiter option with M Sport for an X5 50i would take the limiter from 130mph to 155mph. |

New X5 with M sport will have a launch control
It's a new feature of 8-speed ZF tranny for MY2014 on many BMWs |
