DWS06 All Seasons

Who else has run these on their X5M and how much life have you gotten out of them?

I just swapped a set off mine that I purchased in October for actual snow tires and my rear tires have worn out BAD so much so the S is already gone that indicates it can be used in snow ... maybe only have little over 1k miles on them if that.

Haven’t measured depth but it is nothing like the fronts both front/rear were new at this rate seems rears will only last 5k miles if I’m lucky.

I have about 15K on mine and still have 8/32 of tread left. Are you lowered at all?

Yes I'm running the 2' HR springs and had it aligned shortly after dropping and everything was in the green.

Maybe I will bite the bullet and take it to a stealership and have it rechecked bastards are a few hours away .. only shops around me are basic car shops and have no fucking clue what they are doing, last place I went and had the alignment done left a caliper bolt loose leaving me and my family stranded in Montreal.

Could just be I'm having to much fun after installing the JB4

I have the DWS on my truck for about 4 months now. I have the JB4 Stage 1 on my truck and the tires still have the paint lines they came with when they were new. My driving style is very spirited and I drive about 40 miles a day to and from work.

The X5 has a large range for alignment. I also have the 2” springs but, I asked alignment guy to get as close to 0 camber and 0 toe as possible in the rear and as close to stock specs in the front. So far, so good!

I put 50k miles on DWS’ before the S wore off and it only wore on the front right. DWS is a great tire!

I suspect your toe is out. Toe can chew up a tire very quickly.

Your toe is off. This has nothing to do with the tire IMO. Get your alignment done, NOT to BMW specs, I repeat, NOT to BMW specs. But get toe set for 0.06 or less, as close to 0.01 as possible. 0.1 is not the same, nor good enough.

Camber is fine, and is not the killer of tires, you can run upwards of -2.5deg and it won't eat a tire like 0.8 deg of toe can.

Looking at my alignment paperwork my total rear toe is 0.10 left and 0.11 right looks like this explains it.

Time to get it redone ...

+1 on this.
I get my alignment shop to set toe at 0.02, which leads to good tire life (40k miles plus), of various types and brands.
At 125k miles, on 3rd set now, about half life left.
Went from Dueler RFT to Conti DWS non-RFT and back to RFT (Michelin ZP).

Regarding the tire. DW06 is a replacement for DWS, so must be as good. DWS was a great tire.

I agree with everyone else on the toe eating them. I have 4-5K miles on mine so far, and they still look pretty much new.

Yea I'm going this week to get a alignment done along with a few more of the recalls ... Dealership only charges $100 for alignment going to be needed anyway since replacing some suspension parts.

Your dealer, may not follow your wishes/request. An authorized dealer, is often not flexible on what you want, and will only give you want is within "tolerance."

You want to look for a "Performance alignment," shop. Or a performance shop, that does alignments. There are many of them, in each state and in major cities. I haven't a clue where you are located?

I’m quite far up north ... about 3 hours from a big city and there is not many options especially one I would trust, last place I went that said they could do it left a caliper bolt loose when they shouldn’t have even been touching it because they had no idea what they were actually doing ... I’ve already discussed with my SA what I specifically need done and how I want it he already knows my truck and knows I’m modified and not a run of the mill customer that wants whatever bmw says...

I’m also going to make it very clear when I go in honestly I’d rather deal with a bit of a hassle at bmw than risk some shop fucking the truck up because they have never seen an x5m before ... that and the typical o it’s a special Bimmer going to have to charge $$$$ more once get in and have work as this has already happened a number of times just swapping some tires out before I found an honest place.

Guy was honest and straightforward last time I was in for driveshaft recall so I’m willing to take a chance on it and I’m getting a few of the s63 recalls done while I’m there anyway
