2013 X6M/X5M JB4 Stage 2 Tune Review
Cross post from X6M forum:
Hello Fellas, 2 week ago I had dropped off my car, a 2013 E70 X6M, with Terry from Burger Tuning for research and development of an aggressive tune. Having dealt with him plenty on the N54 platform I was confident something awesome would come out of it, and it sure did. Car's mods are: Kittyless Downpipes Drop in Filter JB4 + BCM Module Compared to stock it's day and night. If my butt dyno is correct, I'd have to guess at least 100 awhp increase in power, but we will know for sure once I put it on a dyno. Throttle response, turbo spool sound, and exhaust are dramatically improved. Car sounds like a beast at WOT yet fairly quite and sophisticated during regular driving. Terry created 3 maps: 1. 91 octane conservative tune 2. 93 octane more aggressive tune 3. E30 map for maximum performance. I love JB4 and it's ability to switch maps on the fly right on your steering wheel. The results were as follows: 0-60 was clocked in at 3.7 with a moderate launch. Stock time: 4.7 seconds 1/4 came in at 12 flat at 118.9 mph. Stock time: 13.0 at 110.5 I'll be taking the car to both the drag strip this Saturday and to a Dyno next week. I'll be updating this thread accordingly. Would definitely recommend this product to my friends and my fellow enthusiasts. Install is a bit tricky, but well worth the hassle. |

Is there a difference between the JB4 Map 1 and the Stage 1 map. If yes, what is it?
I can't get 93 octane where I'm at so Map 2 is useless to me. Not sure about Map 3... I have the Stage 1 piggyback so I'm trying to figure out if this is worth considering. |

It comes with code reading, code clearing(yes, turns off cel), and a ton of other in dash options. Take a look on burger tuning website at all the stuff they offer, it's awesome. |

Terry can create you a tune for any fuel. I currently has 3 maps: Map 1: 91 Octane. 13PSI Map 2: 93 Octane. 15PSI Map 3: E30(30% Ethanol or 10 gallons 91 6 gallons E85) most aggressive 17-18PSI The difference is fairly noticeable switching between the maps, not to mention from stock to even most conservative map 1. Night and day. Also, Terry can create a more aggressive Map 1 for you on 91 octane is you like. It's done that way for me because I asked to make Map 1 conservative. You can make it as aggressive as you like. |

Per turbo, no? See this article I'm not allowed to post correctly lol
"...The N63 compression is at 10.0:1 while the S63 is at 9.3:1. Why the compression difference? The S63 runs more boost with 17.4 psi peak vs. the N63 hitting 11.6 psi of maximum boost pressure..." http://www.***********.com/content.p...and-S63-motors Last edited by m5james; 08-20-2016 at 12:55 AM.. |

I won't be putting E85 in mine until I've verified all the lines/pumps are good for ethanol - A straight E85 map would be perfect for this engine. |

I had the JB4 piggyback on my 335 which was a great tune that I could change maps on the fly, is this more or less the same thing meaning I will have to open up the ECU? would I need to unload my Active Autowerkes stage 2+ tune to run the JB4 or can they be married?

I'm doing meth, cheaper than mixing 100 octane while the water adds the benefits of cleanings the valves...the pros outweight the cons.

The E30 and 98 Octane tune are essentially the same. I might run MS109 instead of the ethanol mix at the track tonight for better results.

I asked for a discount based on being beta but he wasn't interested...a GB on the JB4/BCM combo would hopefully make it possible.

Dont have a thread, but it was just a nightmare. Constant leaks. A couple of times the whole tank leaked out into my trunk, car smelled like hell for months. Always some type of flow problems. Once you install meth and your tune becomes meth reliant, its a huge pain in the ass

Product is solid. I was the beta. Not sure why you want a discount when it is already less than half the cost of any other tune out there.

Good luck with your group buy. I bought one already without hesitation as I've been on at these guys to do a S63 JB4.
For $799+$150 (BCM) it's still half the price of other tunes and gives you many more options. These guys put much more into their development and pioneer products rather than duplicating and there's a reason why they're popular with the n54 platform. Don't be cheap. Pay the man his money. |
