I love it. Especially 3 pedaled. But, as an every now and then track car I'd probably look at the gts or turbo/s.

Here's a couple of articles that opened my eyes to the latest turbo s. No manual, of course, but DAMN.
Disclosure: I'm no spring chicken like most of you.

Front wheels lifted from the pavement? DaMn.

Turbo S, gts targa and gt3 manual please. That should do the trick.

Yay! Will be fun to watch the 997 and 991.1 GT3 market. There may be some volatility.

Anyone remember the fund that follows this market? Might want to buy some...

Been watching Rennlist for sale forums since the 991.1 GT3 came out waiting for 997.2 GT3 prices to come down low enough for me to take a swing at one.

Perhaps this will make my pipe dream come true. lol

Strong economy
+
perception that the 997 is the last MT "drivers" GT3
= current prices

Inflated? Not inflated? I am not sure, but I do know that I saw a 997.2 asking the same as a a few 991 GT3s with similar mileage.

Maybe people who like the feel of less tech really are speaking with their wallets.

Can't wait to see more info about the 991.2 GT3s!

(for pure magazine dream reading)

I know this is a RS but I'll just leave this here so we all understand the pricing structure of these cars. Note MSRP and asking price..........Phil

991.1 will take a dump this car won't affect 997 much. 997 and 991 feel worlds different also 991.2 have huge waiting lists so don't count on getting a cheap 997.2 because of this new car.

The reviews are coming out and all have pretty much the same conclusions. Spectacular.

I was unaware of the level of rework done on the internals.

Basically perfection from every aspect is what everyone is saying. Only Porsche can outdo themselves.
The Ring time is something else too. 7:12 for an NA 500 hp car is absurd. Surely the RS (which previously ran 7:20 in damp conditions) will be low 7s and I suspect a new Ring record will soon be accomplished by the GT2 RS (which based on patents will have active aero similar to the Huracan).

Unfortunately, unless you are on the A list with your Porsche dealer, you are out of luck for the next few years.
I have called around, checked with 2 local dealers and they basically laughed at me.
Or be ready to pay WAY OVER Msrp if you can find one.
I called about the manual version due in September...

Manual vs PDK

I love a manual as much as the next guy. My E39 ///M5 was manual. In fact up until I turned 40, nearly every one of my cars were manual.
I love to heel/toe and blip the throttle.

It's not that I am getting old, its just PDK is so dam good. It is intuitive. Don't confuse PDK with our M4/M3 clunky DCT.

With PDK you can be in full auto mode, then manually go down a gear and 10 seconds later, you are back to auto mode. Its a great feature missing from our cars. You don't have to take it out of auto mode if you feel its labouring. Our cars go to high in the gears way to fast. (But I digress).

I have had my money down on one of these for awhile, and I got a call to submit my specs. So it looks like I will get an allocation. It doesn't seem to be that big of a deal down here.

So the point i wanted to make is, once again, whilst many people complained there was no manual option, Uptake on the manuals has been incredibly slow.

The PDK sales far out weigh the manual sales. Remember I love manual as much as the next guy. But I want this as my daily. Traffic is what spoils manual.

I love manual, but when it came time to order, I ordered PDK. I think the majority of people who actually put their money down, will be the same.

I think all of the journo's have it wrong. They all say that PDK is the ultimate for the Track. (Yes i know faster times). But I am the opposite. I want PDK for the street, because frequently its just business as usual and you are commuting. I commute more than I track.

Whereas for the few times a year I am at the track, That is when I would prefer a manual. That's where I want to show off skill. Each to their own I guess.

Also for those of you potentially on the fence of grabbing a new GT3, and debating which trans to get.

In my brief research (trying to find link), the LSD's may be different between the manual and pdk versions. Mechanical for the former and electronic for the latter.

Whilst interesting, I don't know if that changes much.
There seems to be a growing number of cheap cars that are extremely quick 0-60 times. These annoying buzz boxes like to travel at 10-15km/hr under the speed limit whenever there is single lane.
Then when you get lights, where it branches to two lanes and across the other side, it goes back to one lane again, They are suddenly a RACE CAR.

Its a race to the other side, and if they beat you, they jam on the brakes and continue at 15km/hr under the speed limit. I swear if you were in Texas, you would pull a gun out and shoot them.

So 0-60 being half a second faster in PDK makes a whole lot of sense to me. When I get in front, I keep my boot into it and leave them to hold up everyone else.

I expect the GT2 RS to follow suit of predecessors and be FI, not NA. I agree with the rest wholeheartedly.

Yes, was not trying to say the GT2 RS won't be FI, but given a GT3 with only 500 hp is running this fast and won't be nearly as extreme as the RS cars just shows how far ahead they still are in terms of handling and dynamics and how fast those other two will bring to the table.
I can't think of another NA 500 hp car that could run as low as 7:12 especially as a full production car only.

I wonder what was done to that car in prep for the track? It is not stock, as it has a racing seat with halo, and the passenger seat appears removed. So, it has some weight reduction and a single racing seat, at a minimum.

It's still a remarkable time, but it isn't a full production car. It has been modified.

It's funny, you'd think Porsche has little incentive to pursue the bleeding edge, and would be content to rest on its laurels even a little bit, what with its legions of fans lined on for years and even used versions selling over MSRP. Instead, everything they release simply knocks it out of the park (except maybe the new 4-cyl Boxster/Cayman).
