Old Acura RL vs. new G01 7-series. Car safety technology advancing...
Also, this illustrates a weak spot of SH-AWD - torque vectoring doesn't work under braking (unlike BMW DPC torque vectoring available in X6, X5m's and X5 F15's which still works under braking). Acura driver provably would have made the turn if he accelerated instead off braked.

Glad the folks in the BMW seemed uninjured......I hope the idiot driving the Acura is a guest of the state for a long time. Asshole.

How do you know this one was equipped with sh-awd? I didn't think that was a standard feature on the RL.

I love my car so much I'd get out and beat the h3ll out of the Acura guy lol.

Why is LA the car chase capital of America? I understand 90% of the metropolis is a cesspool and all, but still...

All Acura RL's (2005-2012) had SH-AWD.

Not like the midwest and northwest where you're from.

High density population and a major news market and every car chase gets covered and there are more of them because there are more people. It's pretty simple really.

It's got nothing to do with SH-AWD or torque vectoring. It's called object fixation.

When the Acura driver approached the turn at speed, and got loose and saw the on-coming car, the "fight and flight" response kicks in and he got fixated on the BMW and stare at it. End result, as we teach in Tire Rack Street Survival, auto crosses, and HPDEs, is you hit whatever you're staring at. The subconscious takes over and the Acura driver inadvertently steers straight into the BMW. In an XWhatever the outcome will be the same.
