BMS Tuner Installed - Odd Smell from left side of engine

So I just installed a BMS Tuner (Stage 1) on my 12' 50i M-Sport and have been driving with it for a couple days. I have definitely noticed some improved performance but have also been noticing an odd smell since. It smells like burning plastic??

It's an odd smell and I don't know if it's due to an incorrect install or if it's just the smell of the engine performance at different levels than before? The smell seems to be coming from the middle/back left side of the engine.

No codes or anything, and it drives fine. Any thoughts on this or is it totally normal?

Do you see smoke when you pop the hood? Inspect the tuner install for damage?

No smoke. It's just a new, different smell that hasn't been there since I installed it. I looked at the tuner again but didn't notice any damage.

Could it be burning plastic because the temperature is too hot? Really odd, and it hasn't been going away since either.

Check the plastic engine partition at the rear of the engine bay. It's very brittle and has a weird smell when pieces chip off and end up on hot engine parts. It's possible some could have come off during the install. Should be pretty easy to tell.
