Premptive replacement: Adaptive Struts?

My 2008 e70 is having some noise/harshness from uneven pavement, looked at the strut mount area and see the "brown dirt" from disintegrated bump stops/"shock absorbers". Will have to get all the rubber/foam bits replaced in those areas. Was thinking your opinions of getting the adaptive struts replaced at the same time as they have to take them out anyways so same labor cost.

Car has 100k miles on it original adaptive struts, they feel fine but 12 year old struts on 100k miles just a matter of time, but the struts are $$$ would you wait it out on the struts or just get it all done at the same time

Given it’s an old car and by your post your worried about your budget, I’d ride it out, until it’s obviously blown.

If this was a newer car, I’d say replace them as your already doing all the labor to replace them anyway when you redo the bump stops, strut bearings and etc. replacing the would save you from doing the job 2x. I’ve replaced mine and it’s not a horrible diy job.

There is also the option to go to non adaptive struts, and code out the adaptive system.

Personally these struts seem to have a low failure rate and last a long, long time.

They aren’t like Koni which is noticeably tired after 30k miles.
