Should I keep my 2012 X6 with 48K, or get rid of it?
I have a 2012 X6 3.5, with just under 48K miles. The CPO expires in about a month, and I am afraid things are going to start breaking on it. In the past year I had an oil leak (think around the valve cover), and have some electronic gremlins on and off (mostly around the comfort access). I put about 5-6K miles on it a year.
The car keeps dropping in value, and I can't decide if I should get rid of it now, or hold on to it. I love the way it drives/handles, the only thing I don't like is how wide it is in my garage. I am thinking about replacing it with a 2018 Q3, 2017 CX-5. The mazda would be an even swap, where the Audi would cost more out of pocket. Both seem to handle very well. I also have a sports car, and really don't need 2 high end cars, although I do love cars. |

I'd say look at the cost of the upgrades for all the options you can do. Such as m sport bumper, LCI headlights. RFT wheel/rim set up. Suspension.
I am a big believer. This chassis will be a classic. The pioneer of the SUV sporting niche. I'm keeping my e71 M model because of that. I'd say put more love in your car. Look at the cost to benefit and see. |

That Mazda isn't even in the same league as the X6. If you're not a car guy enough to notice the differences and can get into a zero mile CX-5 with no money out of pocket then I say look into it. But regarding the X6, 48k miles is still young. Do your preventative maintenance and keep enjoying the car.

Looks like I am not going with the Mazda, and I'm not going to keep the X6. I am going to meet in the middle and get a Q3, with sports pkg.

I agree with above posters, 48k is nothing on this car. Just enjoy it

think again when you are closer to the 100k tick, unless you love the Q3/5, going there is still a trade-down for no reason rather than eating the next depreciation curve.

I just love these kind of posts. Our 2011 X535d just hit 152,000 miles and we love it! You have to keep and drive cars to get your value out of them ...... Also, who would even look at a Mazda coming from a Bimmer. Then there's the Audi thing - how many of them are classics that don't depreciate or last - lol! To each their own but really ....... |

The Q3 is not a bad vehicle, but to me, its just an A4 with more stuff on it to make it go slower, get worse gas mileage, and not handle as well. Possibly the OP is just itching to be in something different, and just couldn't be talked out of it. I do believe if you are tired with your X6/5 35i, just throw some mods at it, wake the relationship back up.

I mean I would go CPO and find a deal or keep your current vehicles. Check out this site other then the classifieds here, they have a good selection:

Have you looked into an extended warranty? If you're looking for something new, then not much to say, but if you like the X6, seems like that would be worth considering.

That's exactly what we did. Exported our X6 to the US, registered it in FL and bought a 3yr extended warranty, just for piece of mind. Came out to a grand/yr, February will make the 2nd yr. After the 3rd year, we're on our own.
Just hoping that the fact we don't put many miles on it keeps her in good shape. We have +/- 40k miles on her, regular oil changes and she's on a Battery Minder 2012AGM trickle-charger.
