Change 3.5i exhaust tips to 5.0's

Hi Folks,
After discussed with member mdrobc13, I gave up to upgrade exhaust with Eisenmann, cuz I hate drone in my cabin.
So I need you guys help again. I heard there are OEM 5.0i exhaust tips available for my 3.5i. If I am going to upgrade with it, will it also cause huge drone in my cabin? And lose torque at the low RPM?

If you haven't noticed already, X6 only have the left exhaust opened while below 3K RPM.
I used the golf-tee mod to force both side to be opened at all times, and I really hate the resulting sound.
I would imagine changing to 5.0i tips would sound the same, since it's just changing tips.

You should also do the golf-tee mod to see if you like the noise.

I can't really describe it. You should give it a shot yourself with a ZIP tie.
There is a handle on the passenger side exhaust that controls the gate.

Just use the zip tie to tie the handle so that the gate is permanently open. It takes only a couple of minutes to do.

Do it when your exhaust is cold!!

does the golf-tee mod really make car sound annoying and huge drone in the cabin? Have u ever heard there is a OEM performance exhaust system for our 3.5i? I have contact with getbmwparts.com, they told me there is one OEM performance system specified for the N55 engine, but my dealer told me it is just for the old version which is equipped with N54. I lost.

Luckily enough the 30d doesn't have this flap so I ordered the exhaust upgrade to 50i tips today. Unfortunately there are none in Oz so have to wait 10 days to get them in.

There isn't a huge drone, but there is still a bit that's noticeable.
Some people can handle the extra noise, so it's down to personal preference
Personally, i think it sounds bad (especially when cold started)

Is there a DIY for this?

How about the OEM performance exhaust set. Have you ever heard about it?
