X6M euro hitch

Anyone have an X6M with the Euro hitch installed? Can the hitch cover on the diffuser be re-installed to cover the hitch when not in use? I want to be able to put the cover back on when the hitch is not in use. Any cutting to the diffuser for install? Any pics would be great.

I had thought the euro hitches wouldn't work on the NA X6. I was about to order the standard hitch kit from my local dealer.. The euro hitch looks 10 times simpler to install, etc. Its probably 10x cheaper as well.. Do they work on our NA cars?

if u mean the removable hitch , yes comes off and cover goes over it to hide the hole, wouldnt even know its there(this is on x6m), on my old x6 diesel i had the 50mm square hitch that protuded though diffuser, and cover would no longer go on, even cutting it would have left a very average looking fit.

Thanks raypeter. Yes the removable one. That's the info I am looking for. Do you know if the electrical connector is different for NA than Australia? Do you have this hitch currently installed, if so any pics? Would you happen to know the part number that would be great. I think they are made by Westfalia if I am not mistaken.

dont have any pics , basically the tow hitch looks like a u shape, and u use a little key to to unlock a lock that lets it slide in and then locks in place, the connector is the bmw style round connector, that slides in and u rotate the collar to lock it into the car. the trailer end of this connector is the round type, i use a converter to conevrt to the rectangular connector..

Thanks. I am just trying to be absolutely sure the stock X6M knockout panel can be put back in place (with no cutting of the panel or bumper) when the hitch is not in use. Therefore hiding all indications there is a hitch.

yep, its all covered up, wouldnt even know unless u take the panel off
