2013 X6M JB4 Stage 2 Tune Review

Hello Fellas,

2 week ago I had dropped off my car, a 2013 E71 X6M, with Terry from Burger Tuning for research and development of an aggressive tune. Having dealt with him plenty on the N54 platform I was confident something awesome would come out of it, and it sure did.

Car's mods are:
Kittyless Downpipes
Drop in Filter
JB4 + BCM Module

Compared to stock it's day and night. If my butt dyno is correct, I'd have to guess at least 100 awhp increase in power, but we will know for sure once I put it on a dyno. Throttle response, turbo spool sound, and exhaust are dramatically improved. Car sounds like a beast at WOT yet fairly quite and sophisticated during regular driving. Terry created 3 maps: 1. 91 octane conservative tune 2. 93 octane more aggressive tune 3. E30 map for maximum performance. I love JB4 and it's ability to switch maps on the fly right on your steering wheel.

Update: I had BMS install the bluetooth feature on my JB4. I'm in love! You get 6 gauges to read from in real time, log, read log, email log, upload log, make user adjustments all from your phone. Sooo convenient I can't express it to you. Not having to carry my laptop around, have a wire sticking out my window, open/close hood every time I want to do some logging. Amazing.

The results were as follows:
0-60 was clocked in at 3.7 with a moderate launch. Stock time: 4.7 seconds
1/4 came in at 12 flat at 118.9 mph. Stock time: 13.0 at 110.5

I'll be taking the car to both the drag strip this Saturday and to a Dyno next week. I'll be updating this thread accordingly.

Would definitely recommend this product to my friends and my fellow enthusiasts. Install is a bit tricky, but well worth the hassle.

Sweet, ordered mine already, just waiting. If its anything like when I did map 2 jb4 on my e60 535i, Then I'll be real happy. Matter of fact, map 2 took me from 13.90 @ 100mph stock to 12.84 @ 109.8mph so the 9mph is the just about the same for Terry results on you're x6m. I'll be shooting for the track on the 28th. Good luck I'm hoping you will see a 11.90 minimum.

What's you're altitude there?

Excited to hit the track tomorrow boys!
Tho conditions are far from ideal, im hoping to put up some solid times and not break any axles

Also, JB4 now offers bluetooth phone controls. Holy shit, SO convenient! I can log, change maps, look at gauges all on the phone. Next level stuff. Don't have to drag my laptop around with me no more. Pure awesomeness!!!

The EXX are slugs downlow, but no longer! FXX is a definite improvement with the new engine and bigger turbos, but the EXX still has alot of potential left on the table.

S63 vs S63TU. I'd rather spend 1/4 the money modding my current X5M vs paying for a newer one...but I might be eating those words one day once we find the limits of the S63. Per talking with Precision Tuning in New York pushed one to 630, the car owner wanted more and Kevin said that's all it had, the owner took it to another shop who pushed it more and it died on the track...abridged version of that story. It could have been a tune issue, it could have been a fueling issue, nevertheless the owner isn't on these boards as far as I know and I haven't read of anyone blowing an S63 from too much boost, so the jury is still out.

TheHouseWon from the M5 boards said the Bluetooth device isn't all that great, sometimes limited response, readings, etc. Do you have the Bluetooth device?

BTW, thank you for doing what you did...being in Seattle I'm very limited but I've been bugging Terry on and off for months to do this, so I'm sure we all appreciate you opening this door for us.

To be fair these are 6,000lbs daily grocery getter bricks. They're not high performance vehicles. 0-60 times of sub 3.7 are unreal for what these cars are as is. If you want a race car there are oh so many better choices out there for you

I love mine!

It's my pleasure. I'm local and trust Terry.
I got the bluetooth installed yesterday. Set up gauges. Response is on point. No lag at all.
I'm able to log, read temps, timing, boost, email logs to Terry right away, read them myself, All on my iphone! I cannot express how much more convenient this is compared to using your laptop to do all this.

I can also make any adjustments needed, load maps that Terry sends back to me, change boost, timing, anything needed, again straight on my phone, while driving. Pure awesomeness

You need to pick yourself up a jb4. Best $800 you'll spend on your car hands down.

Good to hear because I got this tablet and mount after reading a JB4/MHD thread on N54Tech.

My Halim stage 2 tune is pretty great but I feel it's got room left seeing as M5 guys are pushing upwards of 28 on stock turbos. Have you consider following in the footsteps of the M5 guys to run meth and more boost? I bought an Aquamist HFS-4 setup only to see what you'd done a week later and Terry finally releasing the JB4/BCM so now I'm wanting to see what our limits are.

That story sounds familiar, I know I saw an F85 X5M tuned by another company not going to mention the name. Ran a good 1/4 mile (once) and never heard again from that truck.

PT did a Exx or Fxx ?

How's your HCP Stg2 ? Are you using a backend flash w/ JB4 stack ?
Can you post a Graph Log of some of your runs? And User Adjustments tab?

Cheers

PT did an E70 where the owner went to anothet shopping before popping the motor. Who's to blame is debatable.

Halim tune is doing good, but knowing pretty much all S63 tunes are only 3-4psi over the stock 17.4 while S63TU's are pushing 28psi stacked, I'm looking forward to see what's left in our platform.

Halim said I can run JB4 with his tune, I'll just need to send logs to adjust AFR as needed. I haven't purchased the JB4/BCM yet as I'm trying to sell my Aquamist HFS-4 setup first.

It sounds awesome, especially in Sport and ///M mode. I'm overdue to do soundclips of my custom intake that I've posted on a dedicated thread to see if anyone is interested in me getting it duplicated, but work and life have gotten in the way...I'm at work as I'm typing this.

Yes, +1 for a big thank you Sick335! Nice color choice btw, I have the MC blue and Sakhir orange combo X6M

I ordered the tune and BCM right as it was available and can't wait for the power increase as well as the logging capabilities. My 135i was a complete rocket ship with the JB4 on E85, I'm praying for good things with the X6M.

Thanks! Always glad to help move platforms forward.
You'll love it. I suggest getting the Bluetooth jb4 mod. Makes things very easy and convenient.
Results from this JB4 are comparable to what you've experienced with your 135(I have an N54 335). At least a 100hp power increase. Will take it to a dyno when I have more time to find out what the exact gains are.
