Classic BMW E9 CS Body Fitted Over E39 M5 Drivetrain
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I've always wondered what it would take to restore a classic BMW using a hybrid of a more modern drivetrain, interior trims, and technology. What a truly beautiful build. Quote:

I love it when people do stuff like this. So cool! And you don't have to sacrifice comfort or speed to drive a car that looks LIKE THAT.

The stance looks wrong. And the front end needs cleaning up.
I had my 3.0CS for 29 years and sold it on in perfect condition

I've seen this car a few times at Essen and at a few other shows. It's really cool and clean retro transplant. I approve!! But it was kind of pricey. I seem to remember the price was well over 100K euros. I wouldn't mind owning one - hint, hint!

I agree the stance does look off...but the 3.0CS is one of my favorite all time cars. I would rather have an original versus the updated version, but I applaud the guy for effort.

Love the idea, not a fan of the execution at all. Rear fenders look terrible, dash looks like a terrible fit etc. Seems like an E46 M3 would have made 1000x more sense as a base and would have at least had the right engine type and same bodystyle.

That M5 is just beautiful! What has happened to all the BMW classic designs? Why have you become so soft ?

That's is IMHO simply awesome! That inspired classic body with modern M underpinnings for awesome drivability and fun. I wish my M6 was that size..

I like it a lot. I think the stance being a bit off is part of its charm. While I appreciate restoring for all the usual reasons, I'm always a big fan of a good resto-mod...

Clean!! It just needs some 16's to be period, but it won't fit the brakes....
