Any body know what this wire does?

I was replacing the trim on my rear doors and noticed they have a wire loom with a plug that has a plug terminator on it.

Does anybody know what option that wire would be used for ?

Is it the wiring for soft close doors? Scratching my head!

Whoop woop! I love when they come with the wires already!!! Makes the conversion all that much better!!!

Do you have to code it to make it work? Or just plug it in?

No coding, make sure they're powered, as factory setup has separate fuses located in the trunk fuse box (and no, I don't know their #s).

Lol. Thanks. I'm wondering if the fuse is their for some other option my car had. I'll look anyhow. Found a full set of motors and latches for 300 for everything so I'll just nab it and make it a project for later.

Let us know how it goes...I have the soft close on my E70 and thought it was superfluous but I prefer it to slamming the door to make sure it's closed on my wife's e70. If it's an easy and cheap DIY then why not?

That's really cheap, just make sure they're for x5 - this way they fit into factory holes. Other models have various cable lengths; E65 (old 7er) are totally different.

I'll second that - initially it sounds useless, but is quite wonderful. Especially with little kids that can't quite shut the door tight (or half ass it)

Sweet! I did a search on ebay and the cheapest I found was $600 for all four...maybe I'll do two at a time. I got lost looking around for comfort access retrofitting also.

So I looked up the fuses looked like the power connections are their but the grounds are missing but that's an easy fix.

Also use car-part.com. Amazing prices sometimes.
