Rear trunk lid spoiler
I'm trying to decide between the BMW performance style or the AC style trunk lip spoiler.
Ive done several of these on a few different BMW's I've had, but what Im more concerned about is installation. The AC style looks like it may be more difficult than the BMW performance lip. Does anyone have an experience installing either one? |

I have installed the oem flat black lip spoiler and am very happy with the look. I also have the rear window fins as well.

It is installed with the pre-attached 3M tape and BMW recommends an additional epoxy adhesive but do not use it as you cannot ever remove without damaging the surface. The 3M tape is sufficient to hold and even the service techs at BMW will not use the epoxy.

Thanks for sharing. My Lip spoiler just came in today! im so excited. I might wait till the weather gets warmer first. Do you guys know how the 3M tape will hold up against the cold weather and snow?

The 3M tape will hold up to more abuse than what will ever be encountered by the spoiler and with many cars it is the only thing used to attach moldings; you will be just fine in securing with just the tape, just make sure the surface is clean, wax-free and spoiler is installed in fairly warm conditions.

3M tape is more than sufficient if applied properly. I have the performance spoiler and no issues through all of the weather, car washes, etc...

Couple of questions;
Having the rear lip spoiler makes any difference in terms of less dirt on the rear of the car? What is the real gain for the window fins?

I haven't noticed any difference in the lip keeping dirt off the rear. I installed the fins for aesthetic reasons. I thought they tie in well with the spoiler and was considering the roof rails but unsure on them since my mother advised me that it would make it look like her minivan!
