What is this under my seat?

I just picked up a 2011 X5M and noticed something that looks strange attached to the underside of my driver's seat. What the heck is it? Here's a picture.

Did u try moving it around/removing ... ?

That was my initial thought. Haha. It looks like it's attached to the seat from the factory though.

Mine has it too. Part of the seat mechanism. Not sure exactly.

Probably a component that gets hot. Looks like it is wrapped in insulation.

If it is a brick, I'd flip it for another X5M, maybe a couple more

Wouldn't want to cross the US-Canada or US Mexico border with that thing under the seat, and not knowing what it is.

That's in case of a water landing. Pull it from the seat and be sure to inflate it after you exit the craft.
