Key fob not operating locks

Hi - a problem with locking my 2011 X5. The locks work, but both key fobs have recently stopped controlling the locks, although they still start the car.

- 2 keys
- Neither key operates the locks, although a few days ago both key fobs did operate the locks.
- Both keys start the car when inserted into the slot, so seem to be synced to the car ok.
- The central locking button on the dash does operate all locks, and the 2 fuses are good. So the lock mechanisms and systems seem ok.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try?

Did you check the fobs' internal CR2032 batteries?
