Canadian aftermarket warranty advice/Help
I am going to be flying out to sign papers on my new X6M next week and they are proposing SAL warranty,,It has a year or so factory, 2 years certified, but I want to extend further for peace of mind and also resale.
I will enquire about BMW extended warranty but I heard its $$$$. SAL is roughly $3675 to 3017(100 to 300 deductible) for as additional 3 year 40 000 taking me to 9 years and 200 000km from original purchase so for me 2020. Any thoughts guys, or experiences both positive and negative? Any other options out there....maybe its province specific? |

We recently purchased a resale X5 xDrive35D, and we almost bought one of those "extended warranty" coverages. Do your research first, but a lot of feedback points to the coverage being next to useless. Anyway, we ended up not purchasing anything. In your case, for almost $4K, you could pay for a transmission rebuild or another major repair, so you may be better off keeping the money in your pocket, and cross the bridge when you get "there".

I had an aftermarket warranty once, it was useless they just kept throwing road blocks and loop holes at me. I can't recall which one it was though.
Sorry I misread that it's actually 6 years from now which is more of a range people keep vehicles for.

Ya sucker or not I bought it, ~3300 bucks for 3 years extended from CPO so I have warranty till 2020 or 200 000kms, I bought it through SAL,,suffice negative feedback I wanted some possible peace of mind, my dealer has used them and didnt have any concerns, although some guys on here had nightmares...
If anything when it comes to resale price it is certainly a lot easier to sell with warranty remaining. |
