4.8iS with 18" wheels

Hi everybody, new (used) X5 owner here. As the title says, just got a '06 4.8iS, and I'm looking into getting a winter set of wheels/tires. A buddy of mine has similar setup ('04 4.4iS with 18s) and the caliper clearance seems minimal, at best. I'm assuming the iS comes with bigger brakes all around than the 6cyl.
What I'm getting at...anybody else use 18 inch wheels and these brakes with any insight? Thanks!

First of all congrats on the 4.8is!! Take good care of the Gem... Had a 4.8is for three years till it got totaled in hurricane Irene (sucha bitch)
Anyway, it's an awesome truck I miss it..
It does come with bigger brakes and I'm assuming 18s might be too tight. I've seen 19 winter setups that work great and still look nice with plenty of clearance. Hopefully someone can chime in with more info for you..
Take care

Thanks for the thoughts, Forster. Sorry to hear about yours. But not too sorry, seeing that you've upgraded nicely.
